Nan Dispatches to the Pitadrerek Gamma.
Ilawasozo, July 6,1865.
High authority says that Gan. Gregg at
tacked a large body of rebels this mornl%.g at
Fayetteville, Franklin county, and to 4,000
prisoners.
The mormtains and h ens which the
invading army has been, are said to bo 511.4
with rebel straggled.
The Grey liaserves (part of Gen. Smith's
eommand) captured 125 rebels to-day.
Thereto every reason to believe that the
Potomac is very high.
Capt. -Wellington Jones 'takes 200 rebel
;discolors to Tort Delaware to-morrow morn
ing. Among them are two of Gen. Longstreet's
Aids. One of the aide says there are about
8,000 rebel deserters on South Mountain, Va.
Tates will commence running to little
York on Wednesday. Perhaps a train will go
down tomorrow.
Gan. Ellgelmemenaded this evening at his
hotel. In blemish he said he appeared as
a soldier who.has known the army of the Po •
Imam and who has participated in its trials.
He was glad to reeogni-e Gen. Hall, who hue
for some - years exerted' himself in organising
the militia of thd'oorintip. It was irgloridair
radiation that the militia of the Empire State
lidt their homes at a. moment's waning and
answered the Bail of their country and had
come here to defend Pennsylvania front the
approach of the invader. Although he had
not been connected with the late engagement,
yet he felt proud of its brilliant achievements.
But we mutt still light till this rebellion is
crashed and the integrity of the Union re
stated. It is for the We of the republic that
we are coatendingi and we shall Surely MC.
seed. He hoped One rebel army would not be
allowed to escape. Ha concluded by propos
ing three cheers for the Army el the Potomac.

says that the Vise President of the Rebel

Commissioner Guide, came down the James
river on board the rebel gunboat Dragon, on
Saturday, under a flag of tructeouid requested
permission of Admiral Lee to ' proceed to
Washington, in order to present in personas
important communioatisn of Jeff. Davis to
President Lincoln. Admiral Lee at were dis

The situation in Maryland is understood to
be still favorable to the total rout of Lee's
army. He still holds sons of Die panes of
the Cotootin mountains, and is endeavoring
to effect his soaps with the remnant of his
army by recrossing above Williamsport.
Persons acquainted with the river say that
its passage there, except by boots or swim- ;
ming, is impossible with the preielit stage of
Water. The rebel troops are in a great state
of destitution, and their ammunition is almost
exhausted, yet they may make a stand some
where on the Potomac'. The present move
ments of Meade are energetic and comprehen
' sive, and look to the total asnihilation of the
rebel force. The 12th Army Corm - landau:aid
by its heavy losses at Gettysburg, is already
on the march, and will probably euseed in
outtleg off Lee's retreat.
