In accordance with precious announcement, a very large and enthusiastic meeting of the Democracy was held-in Exchange Place—it ' was the largest meeting held there for several years, the square from Gay to South street be ing completely filled with people at one time. Prestrmin, Fig., next addressed the meeting in a fine speech, stating the objects or purposes of the assembling there, and cau terising the principles and designs of the new political party in the freest manner.' Gwinn, Esq., followed' in one oft - is eloquent addresses, iii which hi advo cated toleration in peliticS and religion in the ablest manner,- and challenged the 'friends of the "Know STotbing' doctrines to meet hini at any time and place on the hustings to dis cuss the merits of theircreed before the people. Col. Win. A. Spencer,' of Annapolis, closed the meeting, is a speech of-some length, w hich preyed very satisfactory to his- hearers. , It was a difelice of Winoeracy agaiiist all assaults. The. streakers were frequently interrupted by applause. The'z,Leinhai•dt band was . present and performed a number of national airs, aid during the 'evening a beautiful display of fire works was exhibited. The adjoining sqeare'S were kept lighted up dining the night by large bon-fires of hogsheads, barrels,'&c., collected by the youngsters. and everything passed off in the most agreeable manner.
