than display. The wainscotting, window,
door, and stair casings, are now being put.
up, and are of hard iwood and- to be oil
finished. The walls are high, and in the
rain balls and Superptendent's . Depart
ment, bard-finished( The ,ventilation of
the whole building, we should judge, to
be very - perfect, while { the supply of pure
fresh water" is unlimited: There is a vast
amount of work yet to be done before the
building is completed, but when "it is com
pleted Bradford County will own a home
wherein her poor, and needy will be cared
for, of which she may be justly proud.

On Sunday, the 23d instant,. JOEL
CAMPBELL, of Litchfield; fell dead in tile
road a few rods south of the residence of
T. W. BRINE, in that town. He had hue

afternoon. Visiting various parts of the
village and hearing statements of several
citizens, they decided to make tiro wards.
The division line begins at the Busque:

and runs west to Main then through
Center street to the Chemung river. This
about the present center of population,
but with the prospective enhugement of
the borough, it . Will not be 'Ong, before
another division will be needed. We now
have five hirglreo voters, which is too
large a number for any one election board
to handle, and the board have drawn pay
for two days' work, so that the. exonse
will not be increased. The Real action
will not be tainurantil May court, and in
the meanwhile the February election will

Wednesday svening is now regarded as a
fatal one by the bachelors of this vicinity,
and on Wednesday evening of this week
Cupid added another to the long list of
brilliant victories achieved' in Towanda
within the past two months. At the-res
idence of her father, Mr. William B.
Dodge, on William street, Miss Nellie
Eugenia Dodge was married to Mr. James
Thrall Slant, of Hornelisville, N. Y.
The twain were made one standing under
a horse shoe of evergreen, beautifully it:-
laid with white flowers. A festoon of ev
ergreen was suspended from the °ailing,
between the folds of which hung two
wreaths. In the center of the one under
which stood the bride was the letter D ;
in the center of the other the letter .S.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev.
Dr. Stewart.. A large and brilliant com
pany of invited guests witneesed the mar
riage and extended their congratulations
