FATAL ACCIDENT.
Our. Athens correspondent, under date
of the 28th, sends us the following. The
deceased was several year* age's resident
of this place for a =miller cif- months,
working at his trade ;
Friday evening3here wall a terrible ac
cident near Mr. Human* In South' Wa
verly, by which Mr. Ktacl Berney/ow of
this place, lost his life. Ile, in company
with a gentleman of same time had been
to. Waverly, and as Is the custom of so
many while having what it termed "a
geed time," imbibed to much that he was
unfit to drive - a horse. At the bead of
Meyatone AMMO,' in making' the- turn
they were both thrown from the wagon,
Km being killed instantly and the other
stunned. Two young men came along
soon after and found them, and the team
not far off. They were taken to Sayre,
thence to thls place, where an inquest was
held yesterday morning. The jury ren
dered s verdict accordingly, but censured
the authorities for the Condition of the
street where the- accident happened. It
Jraa not the street, but other things that
caused the accident. '
Man was an eicellent workman, and a
generous hearted man, of whom_ it may
be truly said ; "in Wet he had no enemy
but'himself." He leaves.a wife to mourn
his tragic death. _ '
