TUE excursion under the auspices of
the Wysox Band, on Saturday last,' to
Ithaca, Sheldrake, etc., was a very enjoy : .
able one to all who participated in it.
.Thellay was a very beautiful one, . and
the afrangementewere perfect in every
resEebt. ' The hotel at Sheldrake being
cle - rrecl, the excursionists were given- an
extra sixteen miles ride on the lake, be
ing carried to the beautiful village of Au
rola, , eight miles below Sheldrake.
The boat ±did not land at Aurora, but
turned at that point and steamed - back
to Atwaters, where the party disembark
ed at about 1:30 r. at., and enjoyed them=.
Bellies the baking* of the afternoon until
about six o'cloick, when they took the
cars for home— The grounds at Atwaters
ire excellently arranged for pic-nie pur
poses. There are numberless swings,
croquet grounds, tabl e s nnder shade trees
and tinder roof, a fine enclosed dancing
hall, and fast at one side of the grounds
a splendid spring of excellent water. The
grounds are iniderf,tin personal
_superin
tendence of Mr. C. D. Mosinx, who is
the proprietor of the place, and one of
the most obliging ant courteous gentle
men in the State of New York. The
Band played several fine selections duripg
the trip down the lake, and also at the
plc nic group& Both on the boat 'and
at Atwaters, an excellent string band fur-.
nished music for those who desired to
"trip the light fantastic toe," and many
there wer, that lad such desire and in
dulged it. No accident of any -kind
occurred during the day to mar the pleas-,
urea of the OCCASiOII, and all returned
home pleased with the trip thrimighont.
The Band boys are entitled to, great
praise for the per fect manner in - which
the excursion wasi anaeged and carried
sut, and we only regret that the patron
age they received was not more liberal,
and that instead of just paying expenses
they did not mike a handsome sum to
put in their treasurY..
BURGLARY IN ALBA
We learn from a correspondent that on
Thursday nigh); about. one o'clock, the
store of GEOIICT H. WEBII, of Alba, was
broken into, and a sum'of money amount
ing to about $2O was taken from the safe.
Ic seems that the party or parties who
did the work went to the blacksmith shop
of V. 31. Wit.sos:, and unlocking the door
took'tberefrom a Ilan:liner, a bar and a
piincWor two., 13y inserting the punch in
t 1 a dcor of the store, and prying on the
doors enough to make iherngiva, the bar
was inserted and doer forced open, split
mi off a portion of it. Entering, they
roke off the knob of the safe, and insert
ing one of the punctle.k.drove off the lock.
The noise of this was - beard by several
`parties, but they attributed it to a young
horse en unit's that made 'a good deal
of noise. About s2o' was taken, but no
goods were missed, nor was anything else
disturbed as far as known. No clue to
the burglars hasX•en discovered..
