- As are VOW old, our yesterdays
gem very dim aad distant;
Wekvepa;lM la those darkened sways.
Through 11/1 that is• existent
Yet farolf days Ibine bright and itlear
With sans that long have faded: •
And faces dead seem stvantely near
Te those that life has shaded.
Al we grow Olklaar Mars are few
kor Molds most lately taken,
But fall.-aa falls the summer dew •
From rose; tightly shaken--
When some chance word or Idle strain,
The chords of memory sweeping,
Unlock the tlood•gates of our pain
For those who taught us weeping.
As we grow old our , sallles are rare
To those who grsiet us daily,
Or, ((some living faces wear
The looks that beamed so gaily
From eyes long elosettr—and we should smile
In answer to their wooing, '
'Vs but the Past thatatdnes the while
Oar power to smile the while.
As we grow old our dreams at night
Arent:ter of the morrow;
They come with *swished pleasure bright,
For dark with olden iwrrow ;
Apilwhen we wake the names we say
Are not of any mortals,
But of those In some long dead day .
Passed through life's sunset's portals.

TROY
Friday evening last., Trojakodge gave
a reception in their nevi Lodge room, in
Loxo's Hail, and an attendance of over
one hundred 'guests, including members
of the Lodge and members from neigh
boring Lodges with their wives, daugh
ters, and friends, passed a very pleasant
evening. Short speeches were made by
Rev. S. L, CoNns, Dr. B. G., Thiel - , L.
D. Tsmoit, and others. Hon. DsLos
ROCKWELL, made the speeCh of the even
ing, which was in his . usual happy style,
and-was received with much enthusiasm.
Supper was served at the' Troy House,
and the , call from "labor'' to refresh
ments" met with a hearty response. Af
'i ter supper many returned to the Lodge to
enjoy still further the social pleasures of
the evening. The pleasure of the even
ing'pras much increased by fine singing
under the lead of Mr. CONDE,' assisted by
Miss,Lswis, Miss ELLA ARNOLD. F. E.
WOODWARD and Miss Ames Honairr.
MSS ARNOLD also sang a sol i which was
received with applaese. The eeretnonimi
wore under the direction of A. C. FAN
NIN°, Esq., Master of the Lodge, aid evL
' curbing passed off with unusual good or
der. The assembly was one 9f more than
ordinary good appearance, showing that
Masonry here as elsewhere numbers its
members among the best citizens,
Monday evening, April 4th, the mem
bers of tire Presbyterian Congregation
made a pound party for the benefit of
Rev. G. P. SEWELL, and surprised the
excellent pastor and his esteemed lady
with a tine collection of presents suitable
for their use in their new home on Center
' street. After a pleasant hour ,the party
returned home, leaving their best wishes
and regards, and carrying with them the
recollection of an evening of pleasure.
The.prosperity of Troy was never more
_promising than now. Fine buildings will
soon be added to our already handsome
streets, and business of all kinds is such
-as to make_every one rejoice,- Mr. N. M.
Pomsuov will soon occupy his fine new
residence. and a more complete 'and ele
gant inan:.ion would be difficult to find.
M E . It. F. IlLorsoros is rapidly finishing
h a residence, "Edgewood," while Mr.
VANDINE is preparing to add another
beautiful home to the number already
boilf. Several families have removed to
town this spring, among the number is
Mrs. AserxwaLL, of Elmira: Her hus
band was a brother of S. B. ASPIN WALL.

U. S. SENATOR
The Bradford ArguA presents the name
of Hon, JUDSON HOLCOMB, of Towanda,
as a suitable candidate for U. 8, Senator,
to which we give a hearty and cordial as
-sent.
As our liovernnient has faildd to inflict
any punishment upon the traaars and re
bels of the late NV:lr, we can't think of
any more tit or severe punishinent, than
to send- 'Jrnsos among the assembled
Confederates at Washington. One blast
upon his doleful bugle, one spnech upon
the merits of the "Crawford County Sys
tem," and life to them would be a •bur
' den, and they would flee howling to their
homes. By all means ) , send him along.—

The Greatest Combination -of Valuable Improvements Ever Presented
in one Range.

~ After the fiatterlng experience of the past' year. having had very large and e x tended sale , we
find that the Tits Rasson COTTAGC Is universally conceded to he the meet desirable Range of It*

for years been considered the finest ltange made: 1t contains the Potent-Expanstan Braillhas
Chamber, which 7.1 untreteatly acknowledged to be the only successful and practical broiling attach
ment In use. It is also furnished with Smyth's. Pa eat Duplex Grate. This celebrated
Grate is extretnely simple In Its construction. It has now,' been In active use t.r more thin fire years,
and In view of the universally successful experience cf. lI operation and durablilty.during that time,
as well as the highly satisfactory resultwobtalned by us In our own thorough trial of ItaqUalltle.. we have
no hesitation to pronouncing it the only complete andttecussful arrangement for removing clinkers
andrefuse from the dre-box Initantauemisly. thoroughly a d cleanly. while the degree of combustion
obtained has never, In our opinion, been equaled with any other ettle'of grate.
Tile ItAmitom Otirrank Is a thorough/it itral , clueeißaxpe In. ail its portions and appointments.
While the price Is eirreettly iota. It is en. constructed hat It can be, changed from a Low Closet to a
Single Oval Range, by merely Lifting the upper part of the Range from the tow Closet and placing it
upon a set of ornamented legs. All sires can also be furnished with the Ornamental Elevated Shelf.
The large Baled Ash Pan is taken nut at the end of the Rang* lustead of the front—a much more con
venient and cleanly arrangement—and the capw lons Warming Closet extends underneath the whole
Range. The Hot Water Reservoir is heated entirely from the bottosn, and is of a larger capacity than
will be found on any other Range of this Mass. Al) the minor details in the ;construction of this
Range have received the closest attention. It has highly burnished ends, nlckleeniatoe _knobs of a new
