KILLED AT ATHES, PA.—On Tuesday
evening, while train 71, being a train of
empty coal .dumps, were leaving Athens.

first car. At the same instant the coup

WE are indebted to our neighbor, S.W.
Rot:tunas, for a Mammoth. Peach measur
ing over ten inches in circumference, .and
a plum measuring over six inches. They
were both grown on the trees in 'Mr. R.'s
garden. By the way . Mr. RooEns does
not &Intim) himself to the cultivation of
peaches and plums, but has a large and
choice variety of apples, pears, and
grapes. We had the pleasure of 'visiting
Ids grounds recently and were greatly

surprised at the amount of fruit we saw.

The barns contained a'quantity of hays,!
three hundred bushels of oats, -a wagonl
load of potatoes standing on the floor, one
hundred and l fifty bushels of wheat.. The

military companies, soldiers, and marines
of Bradford and adjoining counties to he
present, and participate in the exercises,
and make our second encampment excel

three - days cooked rations, "blankets,
tents, etc., and report between 10. A. M.

MOUNT PlSGAit.—Mount Pisgah, which
is becoming quite a popular resort, is situ.
ated in Springfield * township; this county.
The property is owned by IL F. REDING..
TON, and has been fitted up for the ac
commodation.of 'pleasure seekers. A cor
respondent of the Canton Seutilfal, who
has recently visited the place, gives this
description of it
Mount Pisgah is twenty-five hundred
feet ahoye the level of the sea, and about
fifteen hundred feet' above the surround
ing- valley. The ,tower upon its summit
is seventy feet in height. and contains ev

attempt to describe the scenic beauty of
Thousand Islands. As we Steam around

some enchanted spot inhabited by Fairies.

latiil residences erected on many of the
Islands indicates that the place is- pm.

tastes and plethoric pursed. The chief
source of amusement is fishing, add we
had the pleasure of "hauling in" a num.

black 'bass of the Sisquehsuada in the,

The river is aboi4 three miles in width
and studded thickly with' islands varying in ,
size from one•half an acre to 8,000 acres;'

er. Mr. Baxmi has conducted several ex
cursions, and the last' wfis the most suc

is to be congratulated on possesing the

With such officials it is not surprising
that the Southern Centralia becoming one
of the most popular thoroughfares in the
country. We can cheerfully and consci
entiously recommend it to the traveling
public. Now a word to pleasure seekers :.
Don't lot the opportunity of visiting the
Thousand Islands pass unimproved. Mr.
BAKER has fixed the excursion fates so
low that all may go.

The beauty and attractiveness of our
fair depend very largely on the special
ef
forts of the ladies. We take pleasure in
acknowledging at all times the ebbe-Aloes
we arc already under for the favors of last
year. It was with mutual satisfaction
that we looked upon the success this 'at
tained and not one of all who loolceo with
pleasure at the beautiful . pletureg, and
tine handiwork will soon forget it. • We
hope this year to reach beyond it, and we
extend 'a cordial invitation to all to help.

topics of great interest to all. We cannot

'Resolved, - That the Treasurer be and is

from all persons having claims against the
