bldckboard of bur distriet:;chools, almost
or wholly ignored - by the teacher; on same
sock silly excuse.a.s "the directors have
furnished no crayon."' Directors should
see to it that plenty of crayon is in ims- .
session of teacher,-and then, 'by ask
ing pupils, ascej-tain whether the teacher
has it in daily use, and if not, pronounce
a dis4;lssal for "obtaining money under

entirely round (windows and doors ex

at the time plastering was put on. In
enlarging the , high schoOl . rciom of the
Towanda :Graded S.chocil recently,:from
.100 to 500 feet of blackboard were put on
and aro in constant use.
Every department of the building is
surrounded with excellent blackboards,
thus enabling each teacher to earn much
more monthly than if deprived of them.
It would be economy in the end if direct
ors N4'ould surronnd every l district school
room' with blackboards, and then insist
on theft. use. Let no building Ito erected
without attention to!lhis, as the contract
will cost no more. The cheapi* and, best
boards are made by using al little\ lamp

% NEGLEOTING OPPORTUNITIES.
No true teacher is so egotistical as to
feel that nothing, is to be learned from
visiting fOr a *day or two and 'witnessing
the actual sAlOol work of others, yet
many fail to avail themselves of such op
oprtimities. We have always embraced
every Opportunity when about the county
or when visiting towns and cities, to
spend as much time as "possible in the
schools, and many of ‘Por most useful
methods of teaching were thus obtained.
Let no opportunity then pass.a.visting
