Our matrimonial departtitent ado ,week

the'Rector of Chrigt Church, this place,
at the pleasant .home of the bride's pa

had been favored with an invitation to be
present.. We but give eipresslon to an
almost universal sentiment, when we ex.;
tend to the happy pair : our warmest con

wish t4xtt they may long be spared to en
joy each other's society, and that no
c:otelf, may ever arise to dim the bright

()NE of the saddest events which has
transpired among us for sometime, was
the death of,,BitltLE WALKER,
.on Thurs
:li-y evening last. BELLI: came here
with her grandmother, Mrs. DETANO,
several years since, and at bnee won the
sffectiuns.of all who Met her. Possessed
of an unusually bright intellect and genial
nature, she became the light of every cir
cle site entered. As a scholar, she was
tr.ted for studious habits and attention to
rules, and gentle, loving deportment,'
m eking herself a general favorite with
both teachers and scholars.. Of robust
constitution, she was fond of out-door
amusement, and while . coasting during
-the winter sustained an injury'which was
not at.the time thought to be serious, but
from which she never recovered. Her
father was summoned from Michigan,
and remained with lier nntil she was
thought to be convalescent, when heleft
for Philadelphia, only : to return to tind
:his only daughter beyond the aid of med
ical skill. She was' buried on Saturday
afterno o n, the sad rites being witnei4;ed
by a large concourse of. people. The
affliction falls with great severity on Mr.
W., anti the aged grandmother who took:
the place of mother to BELLE when she
was au infant, on the death of 'Mrs.
Waltl:En, her only daughter.

set out a choice 'grape vine, another ; e
fruit tree of some valuabht_eoct„ When
there'are already trees enough on a place,
improvement might be made by grafting,
which ij a process so silnplotli airy one
of. .common intelligence can perform it.
For a month new this may be done to ad
vantage. What is called cleft-grafting is
the easiest and most common.. The atom
to be grafted should be healthy and vigor
ons. It should be sawed off squarely and
split in the middle and the graft having
on it two or three buds, should be made
wedge-shaped at the lower end and insert
ed in the cleft, so as to bring the outside
wood of the graft and stem 'exactly even, •
then cover the wound carefully with
•
grafting wax and it in done.
