_A frame dwelling house on the farm of
DAVID S. Lt - Tilkit, in Burlington town
ship, was burned on Saturday morning,
Oct. 14. The tire originated from the
kitchen chimney, about 10 o'clock. The
hot-e was occupied by Mr. SAIIMENS, and
the Only persons at home were Mrs. S.
and two small children. • By the assist
ance of neighbors the furniture in the
lower rooms was removed. The building I

inquiry concerning the publication , of the
list of premiums awarded by the Society
at its recent meeting, and the delay laid
to the Recording Secretary, •I will say
that I stand ready to assist the Corms
! 'Raiding Secretary iu furnishing a copy
• for the county papers for publication; but
I do not propose to do it alone and on my
owii responsibility, as the• returns of the
judges, in many instances, are not in ac
cordance with the rules as published by
the Society; The whole Board of Mana
gers should confer together, and adjust
the premiums before publication. As to
the article in the REPORTER, intimating
that the whole thing was a sell, and that
the money was to he paid for expenses.,
and salaries of officers, it is all false, as
not pile dollar has or will be paid for such
purpose, and every exhibitor entitled to
a premium will receive his Motley in due

" Re a sensation was created atHome
on :Montlay last by a daring attempt to
pilss counterfeit money on two merchants
of that place. The facts as far a's we
have been able to learn are about as fol
lows: On Monday afternoon last two men

of the afternoon one of the men was at
the store of Smith a: _Stewart and bought
a pair of gloves, paying for the same with
a flu bill, of which no notice was taken
