BOOK Nonees.—The Book Tor the Cen

Dr, 'A. H. GUERNSEY. of NeN- York, and
published by Grease; WATROUg, of
Columbus; Ohio, a cop, of which has
been left on our table for review, by W.
I. Reuss, General Agent. It is one of
the books overAwhich a person lingers
with constantly increasing pleasuFe and
interest. In fact, after once comniencing
to read its contents we are loth to lay it
down; for it possesses a charm that at
once fascinates the reader ; and, while it
is as bewitching as a novel, it at the same
time instructs and enlightens us oo the
subjects of which it treats. It is a:cyclo
pedia of polar and tropical exploration,
brought down to the date of publication
by an able hand; - and in a form that may
be ' conveniently used as a book of refer
ence. It has numerous illustrations, which
make It a particularly valuable book for
childrer, and the student hill find it a
useful compendium to'qssist hint in his
studies. When such boska take the place
of the light a - id trashy literature with
which the country is flooded it .will be
well for the parent, the children, the

opinions of a few who have examined the
