of the Delaware, in the town of Hancock,
Delaware county, N. Y. May 27, 1791
When Henry as about eight years of ago
his parents, were visited by a relative of
the family, Harvy Bidleman,. ESq., who
proposed to take Henry home with him,
and send him to school. The proposal
was agreed to and lie went home with Mr.
Bidleman, who resided at Easton, Pa.,
where for a timelHenry was sent to school.
Mr. Balcom's parents removed from his
nativerThice, to: Little Valley, on the Al
leghany river,
below Olean; in western
New York. Where Bascom was convert
ed, is a question of unsettled in the minds
of some. It is said by some that BascoM
was converted! and joined, the M. E.
Church at Sheshequin, when Rev. Loring
Grant was preacher - on Tioga circuit.
This is true, that Rev. Mr. Grant received
him into the church at Old pheshequin, in
'the summer of 1811, but Baseoin waseon
-verted at Little Valley, in 1810. !
In the spring bf 1811, James Gibriore, a
