last week, we inadver tautly omitted several
things which were worthy of mention., '
- Amcng the horses we noticed several very
fine colts, owned by W. M. !Lamour, of this
place, who has an eye for a Aim horse, and al
ways keeps several excellent animals.
B. F. BOWXAN exhibited a variety of blooded
cattle: Mr. B. has given this branch of agricul
'tura a great deal of earnest attention during
the past few years: and is entitled to credit for
his instrumentality in improving the stock of
the county. •
D4vne Lumen and Wm. lifolluxtuale each bid
a pair of beautiful steers, well matched and
very valuable. •
Joni . ADAMiI exhibited several different
breeds of swinei_ which_ were admired by the
- farmers. • '
Several elegant, teams were exhibited, all
giving evidence that the breeding of horses is
receiving attention from the farmers; but as
most of them were referred to by the judges,
it is unnecessary to call attention to them
again...
CODDING, RUSSELL & Co. exhibited a number
of articleo. The bath tub, wash stand, etc.,
were creditable specimens of Mr. Wir.l4tats'
(thc! plumber) handiwork, and served to• call
attention of the public to the fact that work of
this Character, as well as plumbing of all kinds,
is.execated by this enterprising firm, and that
there is no necessity of sending to Elmira, or
elsewhere for anything in their line.
The New Empire Stove, exhibited by H. T.
Jugs, received critical examination, and was
universally apprOved. From personal knowl
edge we take pleasure in recommending it as
every way worthy . the high reputation it has
attained.
Ow. McC.i & Box displayed several
des from their marble yard. , They did not
enter their work for premiums, but merely to
show the people of the county the character
of their work; Their business has grown to be
very extensive, a fact which is ,largely duo to
the excellence of their work, together with the
courteous and gentlemanly manners of Messrs:
McCaBE & SON.
A beantifcdwreath of feather - 0, arranged by

wind was unusually' favorable—scarcely a-per

indeed it was for.Wyalasing, for if it had been
otherwise, (owing to location of the burnt

have been very disastrous:l- the loss, Ul near

tire, and we aro glad to know. of his intention
to rebuild and resume operatiOna at the earliest
possible time. The ladies are worthy of much
eulogy for the efficient assistance rendered in
procuring and saving goods. And we would be
pleased to mention the names of bothiladies
and gentlemen who rendered some of the most
valuable and timely service, bat it would be
impossible to' do justice to them, or know
where to stop, for all worked with a might and
zeal that is seldom witnessed.
INCIDENTS.
JoscPu GAYLORD had a limb broken by the
removing of a fence. P. Comm:, H. I. LLOYD,
and a Mr. JOURBON, were prostrated by the
excessive heat, while staying the flames. A
pocket-book, containing several hundred dol
larli, was lost, and afterwards found and re
turned to the owner.
The Lin-ta Fire Company, of Towanda, aces
telegraphed to for assistance, after grave tears
wLre entertained as to the' probable extensive
si - ad of the fire. They were at Wyalnaing in
35 minutes after receiving the dispatch, and
although the fire was already under control
by the time of their arrival, so' as not to neces-
sitate their assistance; yet for their quick and
willing response. they carried home with them
the beat wishes'and unanimous thanks of our
townsrien. And if the Lin-ta boys had accept

too, the best cur town could . afford, wcrwould
all hite felt thit our earnest appreciation of
their Savor was more iiibstantially manifested,
their kindness more dtily reciprocated.

Great credit is due to Joni E. Fox for his
fine display of fruit. Ho exhibited a new native
white grape, having such merits as to , deserve
special notice.; It has, very properly, been
named "Towanda." It Is supposed to •be a
chance seedling of the "Diana" : the vine Is
hardy, short-jointed, wood of deep red color,
lea Tell small, does not mildew, wood and knit
ripen early, the latter quite as early as the Del
aware. The vine was discovered In 1869; fruit
ed first in 1872; now third year m fruit. Bunch
close sot li k e the " Diana," bat not quite as
large. Berries round, and in size and color
like the "Rebecca," and adhere well to the
stem, skin tough like the "Diana," almost or
quite free from pulp, not seedy, melting, sweet
and of fine flavor; quality nearly equal to the
"Delaware." Having so many good qualities,
and promising to be a good keeper, and bear
ing transportation well, it promises ,to be a
very valuable acquisition - to our list of native
white grapes. A:--H.SPALDRCO,

"The publishers of Every Saturday announce
to the subscribers of that sournab and, to the
public generally, that tinder tin arrangement
with Messrs. Latta S.; Gay, Every Saturday
will, atter the number of Oct. 31, be merged in
Littas Living Age. The two periodicals are
issued weekly, and cover the same general
ground, so far indeed that the contents of one
frequently appear in the other. These Seems
to be no good reason why the same field should
be occupied by both. - The combination of the
two jouruals wiil leave the Living Age the
only eclectic weekly published in the country;
and the unexpired subscriptionii to Every Sat-,
