Fowls of all kinds are very fond
of charcoal, andwill eat - it with great
relish ifproperly prepared. Pound
ed charcoal is not -in the shape in
which fowls usually find their food,
and consevently is not 744 enticing
,to them.• ToeaSe their palate the
charcoal sho uldbe in pieces the size
of grains of torn, and if these are
strewed - arottnd their quarters, they
will readily eat thereof. , '
The benefit derived by fowls from
eating charcoal is acknowledged.
The methodof putting it before them
however, not well understood.
Pounding charcoal is not in the
shape in_ which fowls usually find
their food, and consequently is not
very enticing to . them.: Corn binned
on The cob, - and the refuse—which
_consists' almost entirely of grains
reduced to charcoal, and still retain
ing their perfect - shape—placed be
fore them, is greedily eaten with a
marked improvement in health, as is
shown by the brighter color of their,
coinbs, sndtheir producing a greater!
average of eggs than before.
