'The dew steamboat is rapidly progreseing,

bullders.r We hope to -see it in ,a few 'weeks
hosting on the pleasant waters of the Susque
hanna. The only grave difficulty now,. with
some reportorial minds. is to and it a suitable
name: one objects to 'Gertrude of Wyoming:
because When he was doing the bohemian to
Philadelphia, some flippant correspondent of a
paper represented that every female child in
Wilkes- erre was named Gertrude. Now all of.
oar readers know that the name is scarce in
Wilkes-134rre, and even were it so, we think the
argument would be in favor of R. It has been
customary is all ages to honor the names of men
of genius by memorial monuments of some
sort, creditable alike to the living and the dead.
Now Campbell was a true poet, admired in his
own and every other land, and of all the men
who ever trod this valley, none other did so
much for its name and fame as Campbell. By
the magic touch of his genius. he clothed it in
a poetic garb, MI of romantic interest and
loveliness; that has attracted The eyes of the
literary world ever since he wrote. Is this not
deserving' of some testimonial ? Let the par
ties who wish to give the boat a family name,
build a monument to Campbell on the River
Park. and we will be satisfied. The ladies will
