With the exception of last week's
snow-storm, the winter, so far, htid .
been remarkably pleasant; and while
the almost entire absence of any
thing like cold has been exciting the
wonder ot every one, it has appar

most every direction the streets and
avenues have presented a constant
stir and excitement; At the Capitol,
unusual crowds have been daily in
attendance; and the galleries of the
House and Senate have, been almost
constantly occupied with both inter

• The legislative events. and discus

been'of a very. interesting 'char icter.
Beyond. the 'consideration of _the fi

there hasrbrit little of interest trans
