stir If yon are going to buy a
Sewing Machine, examine the new Wheeler &
Wilson before you purchase. It makes the
shuttle or lock-stitch, but does it without a
shuttle. It is noiseless, and runs faster, more
easily, and will last cinch longer than any shut
tle machine in use. All its joints are adjuatible,
and can be tightened as fast as they wear.

At the Opera House to-night Miss Caroline
Hayes and a full Dramatic Company of unusual
excellence, will present Tom Taylor's celebrat
ed play of the Ticket-of-Leave Man. Miss Hayes
Is a lady of considerable ability, whose reputa
tion places her in the front rank of her profes
sion. To-night will be her first oppearance in
Allentown, and she is said* perform the part
of May Edwards in a manner so nlttaral and
pleasing that she enlists the sympathies of her
audience throughout the play. There is so
much in the part that is attractive, that -in the
hands of such an artist it cannot fail to be ac
ceptable. As an exhibition of the heroic love
and Constancy of a heart faithful to the unfor
tunate and noble-hearted Bob Brierly, through
all the changes of his eventful life, there is no
thing more beautiful in the whole range of the
drama than the character of May Edwarls, as
drawn by Torn Taylor. Miss Hayes is credited
by dramatic critics with the power of realizing
the ideal of the author, and presenting it with
artistic fidelity. The company we are inform
ed is stronger throughout than the majority
of traveling companies, and every part in the
east is acceptably tilled. An excellent brass
band and orchestra are attractions of the com
pany that Will not fall to be appreciated in Al
lentown, and doubtless a large audience will
witness the performance to-night. If the repu
tation of the • star' and the criticisms of our
exchanges are to count for anything, we haz
ard nothing in saying that every ono who at
tends at the Opera House to-night will be more
than satisfied."
