Ear ly, when storms prevailed, it wet; brought • to'the barn, and at once knew its place and took advantage of it, and no labor, no trouble, only to feed, carry the stalks and the chaff, and the best straw' on the rack. Here also pumpkins were fed. On the opposite side Of the barn, was the sheep shed, similar to the onelor Battle, in every respect. • And here all of the sheep were brought when the enuinoctial and other storms pame on, and they we re kept as summer made them with plenty of good clover lay and Othersmall feed, clover not being cut then as now (when in bloom), with all its sub stance available, and thus being suffi cient as a solo feed,, when yet green. • Calves, like sheep and cows; should be by themselves. 'Give them warm er stables. Of course, give them' the freedom of the place, as there is no danger of their hurting one another. They will thrive on 'tender hay and pure water alone, if they are not pre- I viouslyiept out and pelted by the storms. If lacking in flesh, a little meal, barley and oats mixed is excel lent,'and will soon get up activity and roundness :of flesh. Keep the calves growing through 'the winter. Have we advised the shed system? We have presented it. The tnegli gent farmer, if he adopts it, will do so with advantage—and so will the advocate of extreme confinement, where the, discomforts, as we have mentioned, are greater than the ex posure to the free sky.
