noticed during almost every outbreak
since that of 1695. It 'has been re
ported, among others, by' Valentine,'
Xeritsky, Kolk, Hesturg, Bayer, Boa- ,
quet, Londe, Sevigny, Dundresay;
Hubner, Holmes, Balfour, IT,iirkeek,
and Watson. Cases of the disease in
man were seen in Albany, and at
South Dover, Duchess county, N. Y.,
during the outbreak >of 1870. It
shows itself in man by slight fever
ishness, and the formation on the
tongue and inside of the lips and
cheeks, and sometimes on the head,
of small blisters, rarely amounting
to the bulk of a lentil. In children
and young animals feeding exclusive
ly on milk, diarrhcea and fatal in
flammation of the sto mich and bow
els occasionally supervene. On chick
ens it has been frequently noticed—
among others, by Hennicke, Lagar,
Lamberleechi, Dickens, and Youatt.
Chickens were attacked in Decem
ber, 1870, on the farm of Mr. Eglome,
La Grange,'Duchess county. Drink
ing the cast-away milk is _probably
the common cause. Dogs and cats
have been noticed by Lagar, Young
husband and °thee, to suffer from
drinking the milk.
