An executive coainnittee, consisting of three
pet sous from each district, was then appointed.
After which 1. lilePitensos, gen., of Towanda;
wai introduced to the audience, and delivered
an interesting address, which was listened ,to
with marked attention, and greed with fro
quent and hearty applause. The next speaker
was D. PECK, Esq., of Towanda, who described
briefly Mr. Gneectr's claim to statesmanship,
showing that the Democrats could nut swallow
hint, but would take him as an injection if they
take hint at all. The hour grew very late be
fore a rote of thanks was returned to the able
speakers, and the motion was made. to adjourn.
In answer to the inquiry of the Presidentits to
-how often the Club should meet, the members
unanimously responded, "once a week."

ted to be a great orator, yet lie failed to raise
