THE Csmrrom; MZETIni HOUSE— To Ora Pumps is GEREILM—As regards the meeting-honso dituoter on the 4th ultimo, it was sad and sickening for the lime, but after a few days of conifidenition and carefhl investi gation, the committee met in council with Mr. P. : Cns, the contractor. All being possessed of a kindly spirit, and having a derireCu' . do morally right in the matter, aril amicable) ad justment of the case was soon reached, math° building of the house to stiffer no uncalled for delay, but be finished - according to the 4first contract in 1872, and also to add in sustaining a part of his loss the sum of $2OO in, labor, mo ney, etc. We hope and trust that our friends in general will favor our decision and also help us with their contributions. Mr. Coeur has thus far manifested a willingness to do all that is fair, and shall we do less ? Your humble servant has devoted a large share of his time for several months put to asking for help, and has not asked in vain. I have said that as long as I can make $lO a day for the house, I would work at begging until paid for. And I felt that I would soon be relieved of my Mission, is I could see within $2OO or thereabout of enough. The whole cost of the lot, foundation and house will be about $3,300. It Is a close time for money, but we do want to dedicate without begging. Any who will help us in this our need, will please forward the amount to Rev. F.. licnnocons, or Cum Avsnv. E. B. P. 8. I have pledged on my own field of la bor over $2,400 of the amount needed to finish the house. • camptown, Juiy 8, 1872 Wk.. FRIEND Arrow, : I took my back track from Oskaloosa to Topeka, and by way of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fo R. R. to this place. I spent ono day at Topeka on my return. Visited the fair ground, and saw a large collection of fast horses which are kept there by the fast men of the city. The ground its well laid out and fitted up with large and commodious buildings, trees planted and grow ing, and all painted and white-washed in good style. They have 40 acres inclosed with a good fence, with suitable buildings for holding the State'and county fairs. I am told- that they have fine displays of blooded stock, grain, fruit and farming implement& We spent the day pleastitly, - and at night- fall returned to the city, inil-packed our trunks' for home. The next morning at 11 o'clock, we started for this plain, distance 50 miles, on our road for home. Atchison is cast of Topeka, and silusted on the west bank of the Missouri river, on a high, rolling piece of ground. It is tine looking city, containing rainy costly buildings, and a live, busy population. It is the eastern terminus of the A. T..': L It, R., and the home of Senator Pcomaor. We follow np the Grasshopper river, passing the town of Grasshopper Falls, which is a batty, active little town (called a city) just beginning to feel the benefits of railroad facilities. I saw a large number of new buildings going up, together with the finest waterfall for machinery in this part of the State. Coal abeamls in close prox imity to the town. The country is sparsely settled between this place and Topeka, at lesit along the railroad. The land is the same black, rich soil as in other parts of Kansas which we visited. Along the riveris a belt of timber of good quality and quite extenaive; also large quantitleijil icood stone, which crops out along the streams, on binffs ana divides. Settlement is commencing rapidly along this rind, and its future great ness as an agricultural section is patent to any one passing through on—the railroad.. Crops are looking well, particularly corn. They are planting fruit trees of all kinds rapidly. The grape is well adapted to the soil and cliMate of Kansas, and will at no diatant future enter largely into the export and commercial trade of Kansas. On tho way from Topeka to Atchison, we passed over large unfenced prairicit, the 4:tidy visible occupants being large herds of cattle roaming unmolested on either itide of the rail road. We reached this city about I o'clock, P. al., and remained hero until 7 o'clock P. K., the time the train was due fur Chicago or the East. When the time arrived fix our - departure, we r,athcred - nlimur trap and bid adieu to Kansas for the present. We went down to -the banks of the muddy 'Missouri rirer (Which is too thick to scrim in, and not quite thick enough to walk on), and stepped aboard of the ferry boat for Emil Atchison on the opposite ati+ of oh. , river.
