ROME.-2:11t. EDyrdn. : That lastlib

hood avast amount of enjoyment !Jr "every
body and wife." The'melancholy, rusty cut
ters and box-sleighs were lounging in out-of
the-nay corners of barns, in an utterly forlorn
and diiconsollto sort of fashion. But the last
fleecy storm has changed all that for few
days at least. They have lately been rushing
along the roads in every direction in merry
mood, enlivened and quickened by fast horses`
and jingling bells. Young folks, old folks, and
all sorts offolks, have been nialdng. the most

Indeed, they had what is popularly called "tt ,
high time." Not a drop 9f liquor, no poison
ous stimulant of the kind needed to make the
company merry; sociability, kindness, harmony
and happiness ruled over all the participants in
the festal scene. We will not attempt to spe
