l'ittaton were crowded with the bright unifornis

and fro completing the arrangements of the r 6
ception. The two Eagle dram corps, and the
Pittston Silver Cornet Baud loaded the atmos
phere with the notes of martial and festive nut-

which was being ably conducted by the seicral
committers of the Eag7c Hose. The 3leeliames

Eagle, preceded by the hands leading the pa.
rade, marched to the depot where the special
train was expected to arrive at about eleven
o'clock. -A large United States flag *as stretch
oil across the avenue, upon which was' inscribed
in large letters, "Welcome Lints'"
At length the scarlet noiforms of the visitors
hove in sight, stid the three several hands in
tertimigling their notes with the dicers-0i hos

which was much admired by all who saw it,
there being many preent who had never seen
a Stearn fire engine.
The Eagle-Hose, upon the arrival of the train,

Position was taken at the office of the l'entes7.l-
vaitia Coal Company, when the Lin-ta was ti r ed'

thirty pounds of steam, from which it rapidly
went up to eighty poinidsi The objsct was to

terian church; about 110 feet. The high wind

Tidd, assured the crowd .hat with the canal or

respects, and its possession and that of its ex
cellent company may putty lead the good peo
ple of Towanda to feel a reasonable degree of

As the hour of parting approached, the most
earnest efforts were made to persuade the visit
ors tri remain overnight. Invitations from gen
tlemen of Pittatou, and West Pittston, 'for the
members of the company to accept their hospi
tality for the evening, were numerens. But the
company decided, upon erinsidering, the pro
potty of the Step, to return to their homes.
The scenes ofthe departure of the train were
enthusiastic, and memoriblefor. a final adieu
to those who had made ns ail pleased,with their
-zflie Eagle company and honorary mem
bers accompanied the visitors to the }unction
upon their return. It is but justice-to, the ne
gle boys, to remark that every effort was made
