Our town not being 'represented in the

in the county; I am not willing. to remain tin

,to your
professional skill to make it acceptable, not to
the writer alone, , but to those at whose, earnest
solicitations I-have undertaken the task.
Our citizens ihave taken a step towards mak
ing imp:rem / nit'• in vocal music. 'About the
first of F:ehrtiary . last, a class was formed in the
chach on Itbbard fill, numbering` abbot fifty
paying meinbers, under the leader hip of C. B.!
tirnuiss, Esq., of Lime Hill in Wyalusing . ,twp.
Th'e drills were conducted on two evenings in
each week.
D.G.W.X
On Tuesday, the 21st .of March, a _musical
convention was commenced and continued fcur
days, three sessions each day, and closed with
a concert on Friday evening the 24th instant.
The concert was opened by singing the anthem,
"llleis the Lord 0 my soul," , and continued
with 'about thirty pieces of sacred, secular d
sentimental 111IINie, after which an address
klivered by tho Rev. Mr, HINMAN of the M.
Church, and closed by singing a valedicto6
song. -
The exercigcs were conducted with credit to
the class and feather, evincing close applica
tion and perseverance on the part of the class,
and above all a high tb2grso of ability in the
Witcher, who was ably assisted by !liss .kuvILLE
IllimAnv, who kendered-to the class the iniu of
a tine melodeon. Respectfully yours;
