AIIUIVAL AT DUSEIORE.
About 11 o'clock, a.in., we reached the village
of Dnsholle, a queenly lido village ensconced
among the hills of old Sullivan. Here we met
the first evidence, of coal which was being hank
oil in wagons, a distance of several 11143 from
the mines. Thu lustrous square and clinehoi
dal blocks of semf-antbracite was a rich treat
to gaze upon (especially while reminded of the
striks, or suspeniion of 100,000 miners' in the
sit - anthracite producing counties . of renrutyl
vania). It was hero that we had the pleasure
of meeting Hop. tiro: D. JACISON and 11. Ja.cr-_
sox, Superintendent S. A: L. 11.11., To the for
mer our party are under many obligations for
courtesies extended. thiffice it to say, these
darsdows arc descendantd of a noble line of an
cestry of the kw(' old " Hickory" stock. A
clarion shriek from the Shenandoah bids= get
abard, which we did rapidly. Away we go,—
"On wings fleet ihat apace is annihilated,
On time that 'acme to hasten Idernify."
Crossing.the high trestle at Dilation, and
rounding the " hone stew," we proceeded to
within twb and a-half miles of the mines, which
were reached by private couveyance specially
provided. Arriving at the mines, we were cor
dially entertained by col. Day, of the firm of
DAY, Hrura.x . l Co., lessees of the coal proper
ty, Mr. Ainzasou and Col.Dzoss. Long rows
of comfortable tenements are constructed and
being constructed. Like "Jonah's. Gourd,"
they have, as It were, sprung - up among the
hemlocks is the night. Immense 'chutes or
caskets for coal are also rapidly approaching
completion. . •
=I
The mines , are quite extensively developed.
The coal we should judge is from eight • tor' ten
feel in thickness, and easily and , economically
mined. WO greyed Our way among the laby
rinths of these enhteivanean passages, delight
ed and instructed at every step. The ootopany
hare sevens) thousand acres of these coal lands,
and according to stipillation are to mine 100,-
1)00 tons orcoal .the first year, thereafter in-
Creasing 10 0 ,0 00 tons each successive year till
the expiration of the tenth year, when 1,000,000
totes are to be mined. The Sullivan &Erie

cents per ton in the ground, `and hold all Im

is our impression) is to rim twenty years. If
this lease is itrictly adhered to, the f 34. E. ILL
