About eighteen months ago the Springs Were surrounded by heavy tim ber and a dense undergrowth of laurel A foot path only led to them. About thi3 only signs of civilization were the names and dates made by the Yankee's knife in tho bark of the •adja cent trees. The surface was ma ev-n and swampy, while the vegetation looked cold and gloomy. Today we notice a change in many respects ; in fact, there is but little beside the mine‘ral wa ter that remains unaltered. Three good wa gon-roads center at the :ginning% House, which is the largest frame building in Western Brad ford. It faces the railroad, from which it is separated by an extensive platform made to ac commodate the arrival and exit oLvjsitors per the iron horse conveyance. Though it is not fully completed, it is nearly so and mostly oc cupied. The main part hf . the edifice is one hundred feet in length by thirty-six in breadth. At each end of this and parallel to each oth er, aro two portions of the structure, each be ing 85 feet by 30. Torches are being erected both in front and rear of the main part. The building is three stories high and contains more than 150 windows. In the• basement of the northern part, a largo billiard room is being fitted up. The foundation for a ten-pin-alloy is laid in the rear. If my memory "serves me" correctly, it 6 to be aone-anda-half story build ing; 80 feet by 20. p ,, A commodious bath-house is being erected; so in connection with theice house, which is large and well filled, it Is possi ble to keep cool even in the present hot weath er.
