all expenses, have been reali7c 1. This result is
certainly very gratifying. The ladies having
charge-of the respective tables are entitled to
much Praise fur their skillful management, and
the becoming and elegant manner with which
theygierupnlonsly acquitted themselves of the
saervd trust confided to their care. The con
gregation gratefully appreciates the untiring
zeal of the kind and amirnplished lady, Nis.

rected its entire movements. Huth praise is
cspecia4!'-due to her for her constant and
watchful attention to the matter, and the ad
mirable tact and talent which she displayed in
its organization. A liberal patronage of the
good people of Towanda and vicinity was gen
orally extended throughout its crontinuance, but
on the two hist evenings the largo and spacious
hall was literally packed with a pleasant and
happy community amen, women and children,
who seemed to appreciate fully the fancy and
useful articles which adorned the occasion.
Every one present appeared.tobewell pleased
and highly edified. We noticed some who were
really genertitts Wen to a fault—if 00 it can
be called at all to give money liberally' to the
worthiest and holiest of objects, namely: the
liquidation of the debt on the Catholic church
in Towanda. "liarstield,” the A-eyy beautiful
