Atrium —The "Chronicles of Mils

giving about the year 16211, when the little colo
nies, struggling in their infancy, had been re
lined to great straits on armouni of the-scarci
ty of provisions, and the people were necessi
tated to live on dims, ground-nuts, and aeon*.
The people were very ranch discouraged, and
it was found that a Mr. Pmiscrs, who had been
sent to Ireland for provisions, had been cast
away or taken by pirates, so a day of humilia
tion and prayer was appointed. But God, who
had so tenderly: watched over this people in
their many dais of trial, gave them another
manifestation of His care, and before the ap
pointed day came around Mr. Pamice returned.
laden with provision'. So the day was changed
to a day of thanksgiving, end the precisions
were distributed by 'the Governor's hand to the
people.
We at this late day, with our go ! mhead Yan

object for which the day is al:TO:dad, and its
occurrence is only watched with longing Maud

No.other place is a criterion—
Each satyr looks like n hypcian—
And whether old or black or sooty, -
You'll come out clothed hi youth and team*
A politician canto to raw,
And went in hos and soul talons;
A lawyer awe with subtle tongue,
And went ont truthful, fair and young
And maid tame, ma grum as klatch,

They went to work at every teeture,
