los. A visit to HARRY Mix's Hot
Houses will amply repay the time and trou
ble it costa, to any one who has the slight
est love for the beautiful. RAIIIIVB houses
are now one of the "institutions" of the
place. From a small beginning for the pur
pose of supplying the demand for early gar
den plants, has grown up a business which
accommodates the people of several coun
ties, and offers the Choicest and most rare
flowers and ornamental plants. The col
lection to which• the attention - 01' the public
is now invitt-d, is not to be excelled by any
in the country, and is in fine condition.—
The services'of an experienced florist have
been secured, and the wants and tastes of
the most cultivated and fastidiotui can be
gratified. Those who would enjoy a rare
treat should visit his houses, and we proph
ecy that a love of the beautiful must be
lacking, if the visitor does not discover
something that will be coveted, and bought.
Early vegetable plants for the garden,
will be supplied in season, and those order
ing can feel certain that they will be dealt
fa'rly with, and that everything will be as
represented.

EECUR'S BAKFUNG irOUBE.-:—The
'corner room in the . large and splendid buil-
Aling erected by our enterprising townsman,
M. C. MEVIIII, was designed as aßanking
House, to be occupied by his Bank, and it
has just been finished, and was, .occupied
last week by the business for which it was
intended.
,the
venture the assertion .that
for convenience of location, for adaptation,
and for the elegance and style of no
Banking rooms in the country can compare
to it. The entrance's on the corner front
ing Main-St, and the Public Square, through
a heavy portal of cut stone, with folding
doors, in which are large panes of plate
glass, while inside the arrangements are
perfect and the finish neat, but exceedingly
rich and splendid. A large counter, ar
ranged conveniently for business and for
the accommodation of the public, with desk
and table-room in abundance, will prevent
all delay or confusion in transacting busi
ness. A commodious private room is also
conveniently located.
Thu furniture of the bank ,h 3 butternut
and black-walnut, and the . rooms are fin
ished with ash. The floor of the public
room is paved with marble. A very large
vault was built without regard to expense,
the design being to make it secure, 80 that
burglars could not enter it from any .direc
tion. This vault has capacity enough to
hold all the money and valuables of the
county, and is secured by the most elabo
rate and approved fast,:ttings:
Banks and bankers *ill find in this bank
ing-house a model which will repay exami
nation. For neatness of design, for con
venience, for perfect adaptation to the busi
ness for which it is used, and for elegance
and beauty of finish,, it cannot be excelled.

Tag GALAXY.—New York : • Shel
don A; Co. The story feature was never
brighter or more pronounced in any liter
ary magazine than it is in the March Gal
axy. Charles Heade leads off with three
chapters of a new story styled "Pat Yciar
self in His place." We are enabled to dis
cover that the theatre is -in England, ani
that agrarian and other outrages are to
figure prominently ; while there is a mys
tery coloring the life of the hero and some
infusion of snpers'itions feeling. The pre.
liminary sip yields the flavor of Mr. Reade's
best brew. It. G. White takes the phrase
"is being done" toiiieces in nine prges of
sharp grammatical criticism. He styles it
a precise affectation for its doing. Mrs.
E iwiirdi furnishes three more chapters of
"Susan Fielding," and Mrs. • Julia Ward
Howe defends woman's claim to • the suf
frage in as vigorous a statement of that ar
gument as we have seen. A good 'many
voters would be pnizled to answer its reas
oning.
THE NEW ECLECTIC MAGAZINE. —B41;
timore : Turnbull & Murdoch. The March
number of the Eclectic announces that the
next issue will include the Laud We Love,
published by Getwral D. H. Hill. The
General will conduct the military depart
ment of the magazine ; the literary remain
ing as now and in its present hands. The
current number copies the Galaxy's article
by Mr. McCarthy on Gladstone, Mill and
Bright —giving a good portrait of the lat
ter, Four chapters of Phineas Finn ; the
beginning of Auerbach's Little Barefoot ; a
story fmm the California Overland; a sketch
of a distinguished chamois.hnnter, besides
several shorter prose and ai many poetical
contributions. The facethe, reviews, mis
cellany and anecdotes are collected from
a broad field, and are well selected.
MORE COAL.--Mictirel Gallagher, of
Cherry twp., informs us that he has dis
covered three veins of coal on his place,
the aggregate depth of which is about 18
feet. Mr. Gallagher's property is situated
on the Dnshore road about five miles from
this place, and finding coal -at thet point
explodes' the theory that there is no coal
west of Birch Creek. "It has now been sat
iifactorily densonstrated that large fields of
coal exist on both sides of the Loyal Sock

AYER'S . VIGOR, For liTstoridg
Gray Hair to its natural Vitality and'Color.—
A dressing which is at once agreeable,
healthy. and effectual for, preserving the
hair. Ruled or gray hals is restored to ils
original color with the gloss and freshness Qf
youth. Thin hair is thickened, falling hair
checked, and baldness often, though hot
always, - cared by its use. Nothirig can re
store thehair where the follicles are destroy
ed, or the glands atrophied and decayed.
But such as remain can be saved for useful
ness b 7 this application. Instead of fooling
the hair with a pasty sediment, it will keep
it clean and vigorous. Its occasional use
will prevent the hair from turning gray or
falling off, and consequently prevent bald
ness. Free from those deleterious substan
ces which make some preparations danger
ous and injurious to the hair, the Vigor can
only benifit but not harm it. If wanted
merely for a- hair dressing, nothing else.
can be found so desirable. Containing nei
ther oil nor dye; it does not soil" white cam.
bric, and yet lasts long on the hair, giving it
a rich glossy lustre and grateful perfume.
