Our farmers are now in the
midst of their haying\tindlarvesting, - with
an abundant return for their kbors. The
crops to be harvested are more than an av
erage, and the weather is such as permits
them to be gathered in fine condition. We
do not hear any complaint of insects nor
rust affecting the wheat. which is not fully
"ripe for the harvest." The etcessive heat
is bringing the corn crop forward with great
rapidity. The only danger to be feared to
the later crop is drouth.

TROUBLE IN TH
DtROCRATIC CAMP.-
We understand chat „ p i ta an animated con
test is goir4 on between Hon. Gronou D.
of this county, and CoL V. E.
Pi°T...Ers, of Bradford, for the Congressional
nomination of the Copperhead party in this
district.
Now, as far as we are concerned we do not
care which of these worthies receive the:
nomination, for they are both wicked" old
Copperheads, eitiher of which will be easily
run off the trackhy Hon. Cimino Mucus,
our present member, with whom the people
.are evidently well pleased—so much so that
they will send him back to the BIALA Con
gress. There seems to be great unanimity
among tie-Republicans throughout the dis
trict, anWas far as we are able to learn there
will be no opposition to the re-nomination
of Dir. lancint. His course throughout his
entire Congressional career has met the
unqualified approbation of his constituents„
and hie-re-nomination for a third term will
be marked compliment to a deserving
Unttn.
Whoever the Copperheads may nominate
against' Mr. Mxaeun may be set down as a
badly whipped man — man in pursuit of
Congressional honors under extremely unfa
vorable circumstances, and will be elected
to stay at home by a larger majority than
Mr. ELatis received two years ago. This
is the wrong year to send Copperheads to
Congress—they will all have business up
salt river. Paste this prediction in your
hat. —SAitsui Free Press.

Faniily Sewing Machines:
These Ilachines are superior to all others for
family vise. for•the following reasons :
They sew with two threads deed from the
sPools, aold require no rewinding.
They are, more easily understood and :ozed,
and law liable to' derangement, than othe v
,ma
chines/
They , are capable of executing perfect 4,
without•
change of adjustment, a much greater
variety of work than other machines.
The Stitch made by these mathines Is much
more Arm, el Itic, and durable, especially ,upon
articles which require to be washed and ironed,
than any other stitch. I •
This stitchi owing, ‘ to the manner in which
the under thread is unwrought, is much the
most plump and beiutiful in use, and retains
this plumpness and beauty, even upon articles
frequently washed and ironed, until they are ,
worn out. •
The structure of the seam Is such, that, nue'
it be cut or broken at intervals of only a tew
stitches, it will neither open, run, nor ravel.
but remains firm and durable.
Unlike other machines, these fasten both
ends df the seams by their own operation.
With these machines. while silk is used upon
the right or face side of the seam, cotton may
be used upon thtrother side without lessening
the strength or durability of the seam, This
cal be done on no other machine, and is a great
saying ppon all articles stitched or made np
with silk. -
These machines, in addition to their superior
merits as instruments hir sewing, execute the
mostbitutifal and permanent embroiderl and
arum tat work.
You n get Seeing Machine Needles, And all
articles Pertaining to the machine business.
