ADJOURNED PUBLIC SALE.—The horse
race absorbed so much attention last week,
as to overshadow minor interests. The
public sale of Gao. P. Casa's House and
Lot was therefore adjourned to Thursday,
July 2d, at ono o'clock, p. m.
As this property must be' sold, parties in
want of agood home, will find this a favor
able opportunity to suit themselves.

and its mechanical sappearance is second to
none in this part of the State.
Bess BA ..—A match . game was
played on Saturday last, between the Wino
nes of this - place, and- the Cayntas of Wa
verly, on the grounds of the former, result
ing in a score of 31 for the Winona, to 33
for' the Coyotes. The game was one of the
best and most closely contested ever played
in this section and created much intend,
and some excitemezt. The umpire Was W.
T. DAVIES, of this place.
SOLDIER'S MONURENT.—The people
of South Creek, are raising a subscription
for the purpose of erecting a monument, in
memory of the deceased soldiers from that
town, whose lives were given ai their coun
try's altar, in its great hour of peril and
danger. This is the honor and respect just
ly due them,'and we hope to hear that their
efforts in - this direction has not been with
out success.

fruits in city gardens appeals to the tastes
of readers ; while the department of notes

number, is filled with short but apposite
items of instruction for all. The Journal
sustains itself nobly, and is a great advan
tage to horticulturists thronghOut the coun
try. -
DROVED.—CHARLES TOZNR, of File
toryville iras drowned in the Stikrelumna
on Saturday night last, He, J. Nowian and
others, went to the river at evening to set an
"oat-line," and after getting their line out,
Tozer and some of the company lay down
on the bank and went to sleep. Ho was
missed in the course of the night, and after
considerable search, was found in the river.
It is supposed that he arose from his sleep
in a bewildered state of mind and walked
off the bank into the river. !Tie was 43
Sears old, and leaves a wife and a large cir
cle of relatives to mourn his sudden death.

is engaged in boring for the purpose of test
ing the coal formations of the Loyalsock on
Dutchman's Run, a small tributary of the
Sock on the south side, about three miles
from this place. as seems to think the
prospect is favorable and is quite sanguine
of success in the end.

it should be discussed by the association,
as being the best method in bringing up
the subject ; which was adopted and the
question laid on the table for farther titie,
Miss Luella Lyon then read an essay,
entitled " Influence," after which 'Mr.
Thompson continued hilt essay on "Treee r "
which was introduced at our last•meeting.
We then listened to a beautiful song, entitl
ed: "A tribute to W. B. Bradbury," by Win.
P. Bliss. Adjourned to meet in the even
ing.

house—she sweetly fell asleep , In Jesus,
joyously and distinctly uttering such words
as these : "I lave you all—l love every
body-I. love Jesus, yes, I do—l see him
sitting on his Father's throne—Jesus smiles
and loves me too. Hailehrjah ! I see pa
pa (who went to glory Aug. 5. 1859,) reach
ing out his arms for me. Good bye! Good
bye !"Good bye, precious one, till the
morning of the first resurrection.
