Barmen irs, in the town of Big Flats, on the 3d of rovember last. The evidence on the trial clearly established the fact that lien= had been on intimate terms with the Wife of Joan H. liaottanare for several years past, and by his illicit intercourse with her had broken up" Bwroolum's family. On the night of the 3d of Noveksber last, Bun= sought.to make a speedy end of Baotronirs, as is supposed, for the purpose of removing all farther obstacles in his intercourse With his wife, and meeting Bsouonam on ,tie railroad track near the village of Big Blats, under cover of the darkness of the nighty fired a pistol at him, the: ball taking effect in one of Bnovomm's eheeks. It did not prove fatal, and the night being sufficiently light so that Baotrou.t* could mark his man, he bee now been able to confront and fully identify his assailant. Btrnsa was sentenced to be imprisoned in the State Prison, for the term of seven years SHOCKING ACCIDEST.— , -Oli Monday last, not far from one o'clock, a little son of Mr. Aumso Ann,,'of this village, about eight rare old,' in attempting to practice the fashion so ridiculously in vogue in oar streets of hanging on to the "Lett& extrem ity" of every wagon that passes, got his eight leg entangled in the hind wheel of the' wagon, Meshing the thigh twice, near the middle and - near the knee, tearing the flesh and akin from the knee, opening the joint, and thrusting the lower end of' the thigh bone through the flesh and skin into the space behind the knee. Such was the se verity of the injury, both to the flesh and bone, , that the Physicians thought tt neces sary to amputate the limb immediately, as the only means of offering the pocir boy a fair chance of recovery. The limb was am putated about four o'clock, near the body, by Dr. Daniels, assisted by Drs. Allen, Phelps, Scott and George W. Metcalf.— Outgo Gmetle. DISTRESSING DEATH. —The lifeless body of Annear D. &anus, of this bor ough, was found beneath the barber shop of dorm Carr= on Thursday morning last. Investigation showed that be bad been dead a day or two, and that he had cat his left wrist and arm with his pocket-knife, evidently in a vain attempt to reach the ar tery. The wounds inflicted were not seri ous, nor were there any marks upon his person to indica' e certainly bow death was produced. The Coroner's Jury rendered a verdict in accordance with the facts before them, that his death was caused by expos ure and the eirec.ta of liquor. The doe used was aged about .10 years, and leaves a wife and two children. He was an industrious, upright matt; and bat for the unfortunate habit which has wrecked the hopes of so many men, would have been a useful and respected member of _society. His melan choly example whilst it brings sorrow to his family and friends, may be a warning to others, to lead them to beware of the tempter,, " for an but' it biteth like a ser pent and stingeth like an adder." t MB.
