Anvearristso.—For some months
the Rzrourze has been fdled 'with adver,
tisements to the exclusion of a proper va,
rich of reading. We aro conscious that
our subscribers have had jastrause of com
plaint, but exactly how to avoid it, we did
not know. Our advertising however, het
not been of an objectionable dander, be
ing tho requirements of the wants of the
town and county. We have, during the'
ra4 few months, refused hundreds of dol
lars worth of advertisements, bocanS we
bad no room for them. • "
The circulation of the Reporter is larger
thou that of ak the other papers in the
county combined. It goes into every town
ship in the county, snit into the homes - of
our best citizens. • It is our ambition to
putilish a paper. which will be en accepta
ble visitor. • For some months we bave been
contracted by reason of the space occupied
be advertisements. As an advertising me
dium the &porter is not equalled by any of
the piqaers of our neighboring villages, yet
the terms of advertising aro much - lower.
On the Ist of January we shall increase our
rates, as follows:

TUE RAILROAD to Waverly, which
lies been in operation.for two weeks, is car
rying quite a number of passengers, to the
great comfort of travellers. A splendid pas
senger conch was put on last week, 'with a
baggage and smoking car. The track to
Waverly is . now finished and the carerun
to the'deliet of the Erie itaitway.
Trains leave here, at present, at 10 a. tn.
end p._ arriving at Waverly at ILIS
and 5.15. Leave Waverly at 12.45 and 7p.
m., after the arrival of trains op the Erie
read.
The passenger train is run by Mr. Dmsors
an experienced engineer from the Lehigh
Valley road, and S. 0. Mmuts is ConduCtor.
The convenience and comfort of this
'means of exit from .Towanda, can only be
- properly appreciated by.. those who hare
been obliged to stage to the Railroad, in all
Weather, for many years. Much credit is
, due to the officers of tea Road, and partic
ularly to Mr. WELLs President, and to Mr.
Cox Superintendent, for their unwearied ex
ertions to hasten the completion of the road,
and for their desire to acciiirunedate, theltra

yelling public.
In a short time freight trails; will be run
ning, when the time-table will be changed
to further accommodate those wishing to
fake the morning trains at-,Waverly.

Family &ming Machines.
Ttase Machines are superior to all others for
family, use, for the following reasons :
• They so*.with two threads' Oleect from the
spools, and require no rewinding.
-'-
They are more easily understood and used,
and less' liable to derangement, than other ma
.chines.
They 'are capable of executing perfects',
without change of adjustment; a much greater
variety of work than other, machines:
The stitch made by these machines is much
more firm, ellstie, and durable, especially upon
articles which require to be w ashed and Ironed,
thatt any other stitch.
This stitch, 'owing to the manner In which
the under hread is unwrought, is much the
most plump and beautiful 'in use, and retains
this plumpness and be,enty, even upon'articlea
frequently washed and 'ironed, - until they are
worn out.
The structure of 4he seam is' each, that, tho'
it be cut or broken at Intervale of only a lew
stitches, it will neither open, ran, nor raveli
but remains firm and durable.. ,
Unlike - Other machines, these -fasten both
ends of 'the seam by their own operation.
With these machines, while silk is used upon
the right or, face side' of the seam, cattortmay
be used Upon the other - side without lessening
the Strength or durability of the seam. This
can be done en uo other maChine, and ilia great
saving upon' all articles snitched or made npl
with WA.
These nutalues, in addition to - their superior s
merits aa instruments for sewing. execute the
most besitiful and permanent 'embroidery and
