REMOND will lectuie in the Court House, at this place on Friday ilvaniug, Oct., 18, 1867. We bespeak for hiin a patient hearing on the important question of free suffrage ‘jlieh he has well studied and speaks upon v. all a candid, convincing ability. We clip the following from the Chenango # ir#11•11 REMOND'S LECTCIIE. —On Monday cvening Mr. C. L. REaroana addressed a large :mil appreciative audience, in the 'Congre gat, ional Church in this villiage, on the sub ject of political equiality, or tree suffrage. Tha lecture was clear, logical, eloquent and impressive, winning the highest econiums for the speaker, as *ell as the most favors blj consideration Of the cause he advocates. It was highly gratifying to note the entire absence of mimicry and buffoonery, which too often characterizes the lectures of color ed men, in the discourse of Mr. Remond. Such speakers cannot fail of having a tell ing influence in favor of enfranchisement.. POST OFFICE ROBBERY.—On Tuesday night last the Post Office at this place, was broken open and all of the valuable papers, and about $25, and the drawers that con tained the money and.papers was abstracted therefrom. The robbery was, Without a doubt, a premeditated affair, and committed by some one thoroughly acquainted with the office.. There are double doors to the front en trance of the office, one of which is constant : ty bolted at the top and bottom, when these, bolts are out of the sockets which they shut into, Ithe door can be pushed open, even when locked : and they` must have been ar ranged previous to the robbery, and while the mail was being changed that evezling,as there is generally a crowd in the office at uch time. Since writing the above, both of the drawers have been round with all of their contents, except the Postal Currency—one was found in rear 'of the Methodist Church, cud the other in the wagon shed of N. C. Harris—the thief or thieves are still at large. --Athens Democrat.
