Se'wixo SEED BROADCAST.—A correa
pondent of the New York Formes
Club• gives his way' ef sowing seed :
"With over twenty years' experience,
I believe the true principle of broad-
cast sowing is 'to throw the seed all
one way ; this may be done by using
\the left _hand at every, other cast,

"Choose a strong wind, and throw

north and south sides of your piece to
be sown. When facing , the north

vice versa: Yon will at a glance
perceive that seed can be sewn faster
on this principle, especially all small
seeds and oats, which, with a strong
wind; can be sown sixteen or twenty
feet iu width at a cast ; but the great
advantage is in having your grain
comq,up even. I have frequently set
those to sowing, on the above princi
ple, that had no experience whatever,
with perfect success. Sow from a
, basket or pail.
"Sow plaster the same way, but
where you can consistently drive
your team with one hand and sow
with theother from a wagon or sled,-
a man with team will sow over forty
or fifty acres in a day in this way.
Sinours AND EYEB.—The root of the
potato sprontor eye extends to the
centre of-the - tuber. Sever the sprolit
or eye from its root, and you lessen
its vigor. In proof of this, pare off
the outside of the potato to the-depth
of onti•olglith — of an inch, and the in
side, will commonly grow,

paring, and it will giow feebly, just
