the slightest insight cannot fail to convince the
most skeptical, of their great value in giving

half the diseases on the physician's list would he
avoided if timely attention were paid to this sub

BeaHF Quite a busy time occurred at the
Eye and Far Institute yesterday. Four blind per
sons were restored to sight, two of them being op
erated upon for cataract, and two for artificial pu
pil. 111 tlie afternoon two operations were per

sisting in inserting silver tubes through which the
tears are convey, d from the eye into the nose, the
natural channel having been obstructed through
disease. One of our citizens also underwent an
operation for Strtthi.iMas, or crpss eye. We found
the Institute crowded with patients, several of
whom have come from the Western States to avail
themselves of the services of Dr. Ur l)r. GRAI F.
The doctor is doing a vast deal of good in our
community among the poor, all indigent persons
being treated gratuitously. We know of no Insti
tution of the kind in the country that is iu so pros
perous a condition a> the Eye and Ear Institute of
