WHERKAS, In the inscrutable ways of Providence, Bro.
N. T. 800 ART, has been called from the scenes of earthly
labors to the presence or the Supreme Architect.
Rrnolvtd, That we bow with submission to the afflict
ing dispensation, supported by the belief, that for him it
is f r better, while we shall miss him from among the
craft, we are consoled by the remembrance, that he is
present among the many who have gone before, in that
Spiritual Temple, that house not made with hands, eter
nal in the heavens. That we give cheerful testimony to
those fine qualities of head aud heart which had endeared
him to us, and now embalms his memory to our order.
Resolved, That we tender to the family of the deceased
our sympathy in this, the hour of tlieir sorrow—a dutiful
son, an affectionate brother, his memory will ever be
cherished, but our loss is his gain.
Resolved, That we tender to tlie gentlemen from East
Troy, for their kindness to the deceased while living, and
their mark of respect to his memory, the gratetul ac
knowledgment of this Lodge.
Resolved, That these Resolutions be published in the

SLANG PHRASES. —This is certainly an
inventive age, and the progression that Young America
is making in phrasiology and manufactured expressions,
most emphatically demands a dictionary of their vocab.
ulary, in order that the unsotisticated listener may com
prehend their peculiar language. For instance, if Young
America is embarrassed in pecuniary matters, he has
" uary ted," or "he can't raise the soap." Moßey is
known to them fey various names, such as " tin," " ahi
| ners," " the ready," " the auriferous,"" spondulics," Ac,
and if he has a duty to perform," he can't do it too quick"
or " too much." ll he gets iuto difficulty,he has a" muss'
or a " set to," and he reproves angry vehcinauce by sug
gesting to tlie enraged party that he " needn't put him
self into a cast iron presperation." He has no particular
residence, but " hangs out" or " stops." In cases where
common people pay. Young America" shells out," " po
nies up" or " lorks over," and if he asks for credit he
wauts to " run lus face." Young America never becomes j
: intoxicated, but frequently " goes ou a bender," gets a
" brick in his hat," " blind drunk," or " slightly set up." j

j favorite ejaculation is " bully !" If melancholy he is " out [
