Tlic Collegiate year is divided into three terms of 14
weeks each. The A nniversaiy exercises will be held at
the close of the Spring term.
No deduction will he made for absence, exeept in case
of protracted illness of over two weeks.
Instrumental Music will not, as heretofore, be taught in
the Institution, but by special arrangement—a class will
be taught in a ball adjoining the grounds of the Institute,
by the Teacher ot Vocal Music.
This arrangement lias been adopted for the past term,
and experience has proved it to he eminently superior to
the plan pursued iu former years. Special pains will lie
taken to secure the greatest progress of those wishing to
take lessons in this branch. Terms will be as heretofore :

without extra charge for those preparing themselves us
Teachers of Common Schools. Prof. C. R- CUBURN, the
able and well known Superintendent of Common Schools
in tiie county, has kindly consented to organize the Tea
cher's class, and direct the course to tie pursued.
He will also be present to conduct its exercises as often
as practicable, and will deliver frequent lectures ou the
Theory and Practice of Teaching, as also on other subjects
connected with Normal training.
Those persons, therefore, intending to engage in teach
ing tor the w inter, will liud it greatly to their advantage
to la- present during the Fall term.
Prof. <'churn's connection with tiie institution is not
such as to in any way interfere with the discharge ot the
reguljr duties of his office.

porated district, is by law incapable of holding or exer
cising at the same time, the office or appointment of
Judge, Inspector or Clerk ot any election of this Com
monwealth, and that no luspector or other officer of any
such election, shall be then eligible to any office to be
voted for.
By the 4th section o! an a<-t passed the 10th day of
April, IS4O. it is provided " that the 13th section of au
act passed July '2d, 1630, entileo •' An act relating to the
elections of this Commonwealth," shall not lie construct
ed as to prevent any military officer for serving as Judge,
Inspector or Clerk, at any general or special election of
this Commonwealth.
In the tilst section of the act first aliove mentioned, it
is enacted that eveey genera! and special election shall
he opened between s x. 10 in the forenoon, and continue
without interruption or adjournment until T o\ lock in
the evening, "when the polls shall he dosed.
By the lath section of the act Kcbn.nry 3d. 164'}. it
shail he lawful for the inspectors and judges of any" get:

By the 11th section of the act of ls.i3, it is provided

return, shall ho on the 3d day alter the election, which
w ill be on the 12th dav of October.
