The Markets, August 9.
Prices of provisions give way very slowly,
i fiir quotations this week rule quite as high as
a: our last issue. This is doubtless owing to
the small stocks remaining in the hands of op
erators. It is useless to look for any material
reduction until the new grain is fairly in mar
kit. which will be some time hence.
The prices wc quote are New York wholesale
rates. Western flour, 87 G2 to $8 50 ; State
87 to sl2 50 for extra Genesee. Canadi
an is lower, ranging from $8 87 to $0 50.
Southern white and mixed Wheat brings
from $1 75 to $2 10. Rye quiet at $1 22.
Oats are better ; sales at 45 and 55 cents. —
Corn is much depressed and is lower ; sales at
ilB to 87e fur We-tern mixed, 97c for Southern
yellow, and 9<ic for Round do.
Pork is firm, at sl9 75 for new Mess, and
$K> 85 for new Prime.
