Aii Ordinance Relative to the Runniug at Large
OF SWINE.
BE it Ordained by the Town Council of the Bo
rough of Towanda, That swine shall not be al- j
lowed to run at large within the squares, streets, |
lanes or alleys of this borough. It shall be the duty :
of the High Constable, either by himselt or some j
persons whom he tnay employ, to seize andshut up j
in some secure place all swine which may be faund
running at large upon the public squares or in any j
opened street, alley or lane within this borough.— i
And he shall on the samed av upon which he shall j
make such seizure, advertise the said swine for j
sale at public vendue, giving not less than six nor
more than eight days notice of said rale, by at least
three notices thereof posted up in as many public
places in said borough. At the time ant! place ap
pointed, the said Constable shall expose said swine
to sale at public vendue, and shall sell the same to
I ihe highest and best bidder in the same manner j
i that Constables are by law authorized to make sales J
by virtue of executions issued by Justices of the i
Peace. And the money raised by all such sales, j
after deducting costs and charges, shall be by the j
said High Constable immediately paid over lo the
Treasurer of the Borough, for the use thereof.
And ihe said High Constable shall be ntitled to :
charge and receive for executing this ordinance as
tollows—For every hog. shoator pig seized by him !
as aforesaid, 25 cents; for advertising the same each :
25 cents; for keeping the same each 12 J cents for!
every day the same shall be kept'; for selling, each j
25 cents, ft is provided however, that if the owner i
of any such swine shall at any time before the same j
shall be sold pay to the said High Constable his fees j
fur seizing, advertising and keeping as hereinbefore j
mentioned, that the said Constable shall not sell.bu'
deliver the same to such owner or upon his order.
2. It shall be the duty of said High Constable to
file in the office of the Secretary of the Boro' within
three days after each seizure, a statement or des?
rription of the swine seized, as near as may he, to
gether with the date ol the seizure, and to mention
the square, street, lane, or alley where seized, and
such statement shall be prima lacie evidence of the
facts therein stated.

of Bradford County, there will be exposed to pub
lic sale at a small building orshantec, on the prem
ises, at one o'clock in the afternoon, of Tuesday the

situated in Burlington twp., in said County, former
ly purchased by contract by Joseph H. Dudley and
John Sweeney, of Stephen Pierce, and the whole lot

At the XVew Coal Bed.
subscriber heving leased the New COAL
X BED, in Franklin township, would inform the
public that he is now, and shall continue to mine
and keep for sale, Coarse and Fine Coal, of the
very best quality. The article which they are now
mining, te far superior in quality to any ever offer
ed at this Bed. The road to the bed is in first rate
repair, and will be kept so. Persons wishing coal
for stove or blacksmith use, will do well to bay of
me. The bed is located only eleven miles from
Towanda.
