was held at San Francisco, on the 23d of October,
with a. view to his nomination for the Senate of the
United States.
SELDEN M. Bea Ton, M. D., a Philadelphian,
(fornierly residing near Vine and Sixth thee, in
that city.) died at the hospital, in San Francisco, on
the night of the 19th inst.

on the 25th ult. On the 24th nit., the United States
sloop of War, St. Mary's, sailed for Canton, touch

We all'intend to winter here, as we can easily
make comfortable quarters. This place is distant
11 miles from Fremont's discovery, and is tench
the richest of the two deposits Many large nie
