when it exploded, and the explosion tore
away the hand and part or the wrist clean
from the arm. The girl's life is in danger.

John "Wetzel were hunting. John gave his
brother permission to shoot at him a dis
tance of 109 feet awav. Tom fired, lodgimr a
lall in his brotcer's head. The injured boy
cannot recover.

Jackson has been suffering from sharp
shooting p-iins, attributed to neuralgia.
Thursday Mrs. Jackson noticed a pointed
substance nrotrudfnz from the nesn aoove
her left knee. When withdrawn it was
found to be a needle. She has a faint re
membrance or having swallowed a needle
when she was a girt.

Bridgeport, 0. An Italian deck passen
ger on the steamer Keystone State in his
sleep kicked over a burning lamp among
Inflammable freight. The boat was turned
ashore, and the passengers were hnstied
out on the icy bank. This was made possi
ble by a plucky engineer and a deaf and
dumb man. The latter held the hose to
direct water on tho flames, while the en
gineer, at the peril of his life and with pain
ml injury to his body, rushed through
flames and set the force pump to working.
