TE3 P5TTSBURG DISPATCH. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 12. 1892. COFFEE IS HIGHER And Provisions and High Grade Sugars Are Fractionally Lower. A SEW DEAL IS C0NSUH1IATSD Between the American Sugar Refining Com panj and the flholeialers. CUREEXT CROP AXD BUSINESS GOSSIP Satubday, Sept 10. General business has been qnite ani mated durins- the week ending to-day. From all dependent sections the demand showed considerable force, and the operations on city and suburban account were more lib eral than at any time since last spring. The comparatively heavy payrolls distrib uted among the mill men for the first time in several weeks bad a good effect on the retail trade, and through it the wholesale and jobbing trades were favorably affected. Collections were easy. The course of prices favored sellers as a rule. Breadstufls were easy, with a steadier tone toward the close; groceries were firm under the lead of coffee, which was ad vanced ic per lb to-day, though high grade sugars closed fractionally lower; provisions suffered another decline to-day; dairy prod ucts, eggs and poultry were firmly held; vegetables -were scarce and higher; fruits wrrc easy tinder lttrgo supplies, and others were generally steady. A Xdff Deal In Sncar. New Tore. Sept. 11. Special A deal lias been consummated between the American Sajrar Keflnlnu Company and the Associated Wholesale Grocers by which the sroeers bind themselves to maintain quotations made daily by tUe rodnins company. Following is the form of the certificate to be inclosed with tho letter: "We hereby certify that we have not sold, nor will we sell, nor has any employe, salesman or ngont of ours sold in any of tho territory specified on the back of this certificate, cither directly or indirectly, any of the sugars for which we are now remitting for less than your daily quotations, nor on mora liberal terms as to credit or cash dis counts." Crop Gossip. Trimo wired late in the week as follows: This is a vory poor corn week. The major ity of the days are cool and cloudy and very close to frost line at night, hence put corn as ripening very slowly and needing 15 days yet lor the earliest to get out of way of frost. Some leports from Southern Kansas show that corn would not be hurt by frost and will be safe in ten days. Confirmatory reports have been received of statements made that late frost did quite a little dam ago in the North to late sown wheat, -ontli Dakota wheat pretty well stacked. I'eceipts at Minneapolis are increas ing cery day. which shows that a good deal of threshing is being done. Ite ceipts, however, are light for season of year. Kansas reports show ground in splen did condition for seeding on account of heavy rains. Scarcity of cars lias caused iccoiptsof wheat to fall off greatly. Mills have taken all the wheat in good condition and aio filling their elevators. Late corn will beontol dangerby September 20. In South jrn Illinois lato threshing Is about done. ."Jain 15 very much needed. The large move ment of wheat is falling off. Late corn will lie out of danger before October L Clapp Co.'s weekly letter says the -irids ciooof wheat is estimated at 273, .iUi00 bushels, against 2 352.000,000 bushels in SOI; nits crop of LGOO.OOO.ao bushels: barley, 7T7.WO,000,UOO bushels.
