HE HAD SEEN LIVING AS A IIEKMIT liomestes-l was thrown into wild excite ment yesterdav afternoon immediately after the dismissal of the public schools by an unknown man attempting to kidnap a small boy who was on his way home from the First wara school. Hie man had been seen lot ,- .. ....... ,.,... w .. the vicinitv of the First ward and tering in when the school was dismissed for the day he followed the group of pupils down to Seventh street, when suddenly, and without any ceremony he pounced upon a (.mail lad aged about 7 years, and seizin; him by the arms he threw him on his shoulders and started on a run up toward the rear of the First ward school house. The alarm was promptly given and sev eral hundred people gave chase and capt ured the would-be kidnaper. The mother of the boy, almost frantic with grief, soon appeared upon the scene, end the boy was restored to her arms by Milton Baxter, who captured the man and rescued the boy. The man was taken be fore Alderman "A. J. Kuhn, and upon it being there ascerlained that the kidnaper was the bov's father the 'Squire dismissed the case, saving there was nothing in the statutes governing such cases.
