Another Boad Bill to Be Introduced
in the Legislature,
BACKED BY ALLEGHENY COUNTY.
Objections to the lleasnre Yetoed 1t Patti
Eon to Be Obviated.
AN EFFOET FOE ORGANIZED ACTION
The movement to get better roads in the
country, which has seemingly been dropped
since the Governor's veto of the complex
road bill last winter, will probably be
Etarted again in a short time by a number
of Allegheny county's most vigorous farm
ers. The State Koad Commission passed
out of existence at the close of the last
Legislature, and since then the Alle
gheny county committee has not
been doing anything. As a committee
it does not now have any power, but the in
dividual members are as much interested'
in having better roads as ever before, and
will make the initial move to brin'g another
bill before tl.c Legislature, end see that
only members who are favorable to it shall
be elected.
Alex. Gilfillan, Esq., a member of the
county committee, is taking an active part
in agitating the road question, and in speak
in; of it yesterday, said: "On
account of the almost unparalleled
good roads there have been
since last summer the road question has
been allowed to be forcotten, and unless it
is started soon, it will be almost impossible
to get a good measure through the Legis
lature. The roads have never been better
than this winter, but that is on account of
the weather, not the work that is done on
them.
Not Looking Tar Enough Ahead.
"The result of the good roads has been
that many farmers lorget that in another
yeur they may be as bad as in years past
At the same time the advantages
of good roads have been made
clear, and with a littlo agitation will spur
the country peonle forwaid in a more deter
mined effort. The prospeiitv this year, I
tliiul., is due as much to good roads as any
thing else. Farmers have been able to haul
their pi oduce to market, and mil have it
done oefoie the spring work commence,
thus placing themselves several weeks in
ad ance of experience in otner rears. They
are willing to expend more money to im
piove the roads and all, rejardless of paity
are anxious foi anew law.
Ihe DisrATCH Koad Expedition was the
opening wedge to nnpi oving country high
w a 5., and started an notation that will not
fcton until the present lax svstcin is im
proved. Governoi Pattison's veto lastf win
ter cauo like a cold wave on the movement,
hut it i thoujjlit that a lcs complex trill
misluheappioed by the Executive. The
Alleghen county committee recommended
a law much I think would have met the ap-pro-al
of Goiernor Pattison, but it was
ignored by the State CommiSMon and a far
more complex measure taken up.
An Allegheny pleasure to Be Tried.
"Next year. I think, we will have our bill,
or one timilar to it, intioduced by the Alle
gheny county delegation, and then make an
effort to get tho support of other members
of the Legislature from the country dis
tricts. We aie in a position to take
tho lead, and my plan to get it is for the
old committee to hold a meeting and devise
some way to make a concentrated demand.
To do t-o a meeting should bo held soon and
preparations made to curry the question
into the election of members of the Legis
lature. I have noticed that neaily all tho agri
cultural conventions take up the question of
better highwa s at thoir meetings'and have
demanded that a new law be passed. They
cannot be ignored, and I think the Governor
lealizes that now and will be glad to ap
prove a satisfactorj hill next vear. All that
is needed is a little agitation. TnE Drs
TATcn has led all the papers in the State on
this matter m the past, and with its co
operation. It seems to wp Allefrhenv rnnntv
might present a bill in the next Legislature
that would become a law."

Dr. VT. II Fisher, Le Sueur, Minn., says: "I
find it very seiviceanle in nervous debilltv,
sexual weakness brain fag, excessive use or
tobacco, as a drink in fevers, and in somo
"mlnary troubles. It is a grand good reniedy
lu all cases w here I have used it."

It was the good fortune of a represen
tative of this paper to visit the laboratory
of this enterprising firm at Dei Moines one
dav this week. It occupies four floors of a
double building and employs 65 hands in
the different departments, which includes
the compounding of the difierent prepara
tions, bottling, packing, shipping and
printing. In the latter department they
hae a finely equipped printing office, with
half a dozen presses, which are kept nearly
constantly in operation printing labels and
different kiuds of advertising matter.
Their laboratory is especially busy at this
time as Chamberlain's Cough "Eemedy
which they manufacture has proven a
splendid remedy for the grip, and in all
cases greatly relieves the patient after tak
ing one or two does, while its continued
use will effect a complete cure. 50 cent
