THE PITTSBURG DISPATCH WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 25, '189L

A MINISTER Df HOG.
Joseph Sheehey Locked Up Charged
With Being Disorderly.
CLAIMS TO BE A2? AMY CHAPLAIN
Government Officials Must Answer for the
.Alleged Outrage.
APPEARAXCE OF THE MYSTERIOUS MAX
A gentleman with a ministerial air, giving
the name of IJev. Joseph Sheehey, was ar
rested at Mulvihills saloon, on Eleventh
street, at 7 o'clock lafet night, for ordering
drinks and refusing to pay for them. He
v.ns locked up in the Central station,
charged with disorderly conduct. Officer
tikc Carr made the arrest.'
Iter. Mr. Slieehcy is probably Ki years
old. His hair ) as white as snow. It was
neatly r.nd carefully brushed back from his
broad 'orehcid. He wears long gray whisk
ers. His face is cleanly shaven in a nicely
curved line running from one ear to the
other and along hit, thick lower lip. Ho
wears a Item-in collar. His bljck broad
cloth coat button", to the neck. His clothes
arc good and they are tidy and spctlcs. He
carried his silk-lined overcoat carelessly
oer his left arm and lie looked an ideal
ji.ir.-on and a polished gentleman.
'When Sheehey entered ilulviliill's saloon
he stood lor lully ten minutes looking
about the pine?. He then approached the
bar and called for whisky. He was given a
bottle of chc-ip liquor. He tasted it and
called for a better quality. He was then
given another crade of goods. He drank it
with apparent relish, but gate no signs of
settling. Finally the bar keeper a-ked for
the15 cents. "Just a moment" the cus
tomer replied. UI am a United States de
tective and I have my eje on a couple of
parties. "Wait until I get a couple of
police to help n:e." He then attemped to
lea e the place, but was interrupted by the
officer who arrested him.
At the Central station the alleged minis
ter became furious. He said he was a chap
lain in the English army, and had been for
nnuy years stationed in India. He de
nounced his urrcst as an outrage against the
Hngliih Gncmmo;:t. Hcsaidhisrrcardfor
3'resiiient Harrifon would pre vent his having
the chief executive of the nation arrested,
"but he promised to make things deciaedly
warm lor some of the oflicials tinder the
President. He served notice on the other
prisoners that they should not pay a cent
of money for fines or forfeit, and promised
them that he would appear in court in the
morning and secure their release without
Triee. Upon the prison authorities he
Mrved notice that if he suffered a cold or
any injury to his health from his imprison
ment he "would in the morning promptly
enter suit for damages. He demanded a
sotter bed than the plank supplied lor pris
oners, and when refused the bed he asked in
the politest terms for a blanket with which
to cover himself.
In hiB cell last night the alleged minister
denied having said he was a detective, and
said thathe had asked that the whisky be
given him as he knew he had no money
with which to pay for it. He said he had
come to Pittsburg from St. Louis ten days
ago and that he had run out of money. He
had called yesterday and had secured an
audience with Bishop Fhclan, but had not
asked for and had not received any money
from the Bishop.
Sheehey is certainly a mysterious man.
His dress and his general appearance are
those of a minister, refined and erlnnaterl.
He was intoxicated when arrested, but his I
been drinking for any length of time.

Wants to Drive Out the Gamblers.
Notwithstanding a tolerably prevalent
opposition to annexation, on the part of
residents 6f suburbs who are cognizant of
the cost of city government, there is a small
strip of Beservc township lying along the
lower Perrysville road that is growing in
favor of consolidation with Allegheny City
in the hope th3t thereby power might be
obtained sufficient to exterminate the gamb
ling dens and speak-easies that infest it
and with which township government is
unable to cope. The territory is in shape
like a panhandle and is bounded on two
sides br the city and is a convenient retreat
for law breakers. A resident gays that if
some relief is not had soon another Law
and Order Society will likely be formed to
combat the evil.

The marvelous growth in
ELECTRIC DEflill
us eist s xhtq- t oist
Caused by families moving into their own houses; those
engaged in business, and the "starting of some of its mani
ufactories have so overcrowded the 300 houses already
built that it is imperative that hundreds of dwellings
should be erected at ONCE. Dwellings can be rented
or sold as soon as finished. We have numerous inquirers
FOR them daily. No quicker returns or better results
can be made in placing money for investments than in
DWELLINGS, HOTELS, BOARDING HOUSES, or
STOREROOMS at
KHEZLSrSIZLSTGr-T OILST.
Buy lots and commence building now, and they will
be ready for occupancy when the numerous works located
there are in operation. We will make special induce
ments to those who buy lots and build at once.
It is an object to us, and we will give all benefits to
those building immediately.
The most desirable part of Kensington was reserved
for dwellings and is now graded, streets opened and
ready for the builder. It is situated on the upper side of
the R. R. and commands a delightful view of the entire
new city and surroundings.
We would be pleased to confer with those who are
looking for a good investment. None better can be made
than in the erection of houses in this fast growing city.
Visit it and be convinced. Free tickets given there
