SMTMBgl m- THE PITTSBURG DISPATCH. TUESDAY. SEPTEMBER 8, 1891 ' 3 BURN COAL. Lump, Nut or Slack Stop the Smoke Nui sance. Educe Tour Fuel Bills, Save Money and Protect Your Neighbors. The 'Western Smoke Preventer -will do all this for comparatively little cost. The device is simple, eflective and satisfactory in every respect, as is demonstrated by the vast number now in use. You can supplant ca with lump, nut or slack coal, and save jO per cent in fuel, and at the same time prevent annoyance to and protect the health and property "of vonr neighbors. The preventer is readily adjusted to plants of all descriptions in less than 12 hours' time, causes no damage to any part of machinery, and is very easily operated. It consists o'f a device that in operation forms hydrogen pas, which is distributed over the fires in the furnace, causing as complete combustion as the laws of nature will per mit, and prevents emission of smoke from the stacks. Sec following testimonials: CniCAGO.-Julyll, 1891- C F. Jahn. General Manager Western Pmoko Tre entur Company, Penn Building, Boom SOG, l'uisimnr, ra.: Gk-txe5ik- In reply to youringuiry of the 10th inst., beg to say that this de partment has had occasion to inspect the workings of your smoke preventer appara tus, in both htationarv plants and railroad locomotives, ami in all instances its work ings have been entirely satisfactory. Yours" trulv, ClIAliI.ES H. Geokge, Chief Tenement and Smoke Inspector. The Leadek PrnLisnixc Company, ) PiTTsnrno, Pa., July 20, 189L J Mr. C F. Jahn. Manager Wet-tern Smote Frc venter Company: Dear Sir The "Western Smoke Pre--entcr which we have had attached to our boilers for some time, we find very success ful. It accomplishes all that was claimed for it as a smoke consumer and does away with the smoke nuisance. It also saves fuel and improves the draught "We are very much pleased with it. Very respectfully, Leaher PrnLisHixG Compant, Jo. T. Xevin, Business Manager. C. F. Jahn. Esq., Manager Western Smoke Pre venter, citr: Dear Sir "We are pleased to say that the smoke preventer placed by vou to our plant is very satisfactory, and entirely abol ishes all nuisance arising from large con sumption of coal. "We are pleased to recommend it. Yours respectfully, Daxziger & Co. Mr. C F. Jahn, General Manager Western Smote Preventer Company, 506 l'enn building, Pitts burg, l'a. : Dear Sir I have examined the boilers at the Leader Publishing Corapanv, in com pany with Mr. John W. Douglass, your citv, late an assistant boiler inspector for Allegheny county, and nnd attached to them the "Western Smoke Preventer." It is successful in all that is claimed for it; in creasing draught, diminishingcost of fuel by the consumption of the smoke, and a steady and intense heat is obtained. They have ued this device for nine weeks during which, they assure me, it has been necessary to clean the tubes only twice, whilst pre viously it was necessary to do so once a day when iising coal. The firebed presented a clear surface, so that the entire length was visible. I saw the fire made up with the appliance cut off, when aheavy black smoke came from the stack, but on opening the "Preventer" valve the dense smoke was almost at once reduced to a vapor; the draught increased to a wonderful extent, and the Leat accordingly. I can with perfect confidence recommend this "'Western Smoke Preventer" to all in dividuals, firms or companies that are using boiler. The "Western Smoke Preventer" cau be applied without shutting down. Yours respectfully, E. 31. iiAYMAX, Boiler Inspector Fidelity and Casualty. The "Western Smoke Preventer has also been succes-fully applied to the Tenn building, Groetringer's, Haworth & Dew lmrst, one of Uowe, Brown & Co.'s pud dling furnaces, the Pittsburg Junction llail road and manv other plants. Any inquiries received will have our prompt attention, and our solicitors will be glad at all times to call and explain fully all details regarding our machine, and will also show interested parties plants where the burners can be seen in successful opera tion.
