XO FURTHER LEMEXCY TO BE SHOWS
The linrcau of Health authorities yester
day entered mil against IS phjMcians, re
quiring them to appear before Alderman
Urijvrt and explain m hy they liave not com
plied uth the law relatic to the return of
births. The names are: AV. .1. AmI.iU', A.
Ulusabcy, S. O. Bruinbauch, J. 15 Grime,
IV. B. Gill. "V. 15. Uamilton, U. F. Lamb,
31 A. Mundorli, "V. II Mircer, It. "W. Mc
Clelland, J. H McClelland, J. M. Steven
son and .T. AV. "Whhart. Tlie trials in these
cercs will come ur neit week.
The Bureau of Health birth records for
FittMHirg for the laM; three or four j cars are
incomplete, and becoming more and more
inaccurate cver month. This lias lcen
caused by pmeiciaiis neglecting to send in
returns of birth'. The incompleteness of
rrtorns not onl causes the authorities much
annoyance, but in a number of instances has
rcsalted in a financial low to a number of
ixple. Many more --oldiers' widows would
now be drawing pensions for their hildren
ted their births bten recorded at the proper
time.
Tlie law requires that physicians and all
jirrsons practicinc: midwifery shall return
all births at the becinnint of eacli quarter
of the year, and a failure to do t-o is punish-
sMeirrahue of not les than o nor more
than -.".
The Bureau of Health carries out its part
f tlw act of Assemblv sending out
notices at the b cnininc ol eery quarter
JMrtifyim all phyMcians and miilw e that
lirtlis should lie returned at once. At the
tpiraiiou oi ten d-ns a second notice is
tcut. with a cop of tlie act of Assembly re
laimc to the subject, and especial attention
t called to the importance of returns. After
6v 3av.more, if nothine has been heard
from -.lie notices, the health authorities arc
required b Ijh to enter suit and force the
return of births.
The Bureau of Health has been lenient
itli most phyncnns, and h.us even gone so
Jar as to enn messengers after the required
information Bui even under this plan it is
difficult to get a record of all births, and
n ftrmi births are not returned for nearly
two wars after.

There is at present a prisoner in the Alle
gheny County "Workhouse, Anton Iteich,
who possesses such remarkable skill and in
petmity as lias perhaps never been sur
passed in this orany otherprison institution
in the country. His masterly work consists
of s full representation of everything that
was, used at the crucifixion. All the pieces
connectiu; .ach part are very delicate,
Ktnooth, and cut from fine wood, placed to
gether in a square quart bottle. The best
.art of the work consists in putting all the
pieces in position and together when in the
bottle. All are beautifully arranged in a
grocp, and glued together.
The cross is the mam and largest portion
of the wonderful miniature collection.
It is as high and as widt s the interior
space of the bottle will r rmit it to be.
Below. on the right and left of
each arm. is a miniature cross, representing
the cruciion of tlie two thieves. The lad
der, the next highest portion of the col
lection, stands erect against the cross. On
the right side of "the cross is the rooster.
The rod used with the sponge, the lance,
the soldiers' swords and all other parts of
tlie crucifixion are neatly placed in posi
tion. All this the prisoner made ia his
cell in two evenings
