It struck a pay in the Fifth Band Tuesday afternoon and started off at 40 barrels an hour. Last evening it was reported to be making 30 barrels an hour. This well explodes the theory that there is no oil in the fifth sand at McDonald, but it clinches tho reputation of the field as a spotted one. Near the Chnrch. McCcrdv There is now only one string of tools in the Mink farm well of Black, Gutfey & Co. They are drilling past the tools in tho Andrews farm. It is only TO feet from the sand. The Orion Oil Company's No. 1 well, on the Bell fann,is making 500 barrels a day. K. G. Gillespie & Co.'s Xo. 1, on the Hall, is is down 1J00 feet; Xo. 2, same larm, is down 1,000 feet-Xo. 31.100 feet, Xo. 4 COO feet. The same Arm's Xo. 7, Jane Kiddle, is down 850 feet, and Xo. 8, on the same farm, will be spudding so-day. Their Xo. 6, on the James Riddle, which was started two days after the Bell farm well was struck has been rushed by Oillespic's foreman, G. A. Simpson, and is" now down 1,600 feet. It is beine drilled faster than any well in the field. All of these wells are within a radius of 1,000 feet of the Bell farm well. On the Plank Road. Elizabeth Guckert, Snco A Co. have just Fold their two gas wells at this place to the Philadelphia Gas Company for $10,000. Samuel Winger-Is Dead. Samnel Winger, one of the two men burned at the Hogbar well of the Forest OU Company at Coraopolls last Tuesday, died' vesterdayat the nomoopathic hospital. In the case of the Midland Oil Company brought yesterday against C. D. Greenlee and K. Forst to recover $20,000, it is alleged that on February 3, 1891, the defendants rep. resented to J. C. McKlnney, the manager of tho oil company, that they had a half in terest In an oil and gas lease on 50 acres of the Bolsbouse farm, in McCandless town ship. They said there were nine wells on the place when there were but seven, and that the product was 500 barrels a day over the royalty. On thc&o representations the plaintiff companv paid the defendants $10,000, which.it is stated, was $20,003 in excess of what the defendants would have got it it had been known that there were only seven w ells and the net product not over 300 barrels a day to the working interest. Suit for $50,C00 damages for the death of her husband was filed yesterday by Mrs. Catharine Lciser against W. & II. Walker. The plaintiff's husband was killed by a gas explosion in tho soap works of delendants. Suit was commenced yesterday in behalf of Joseph H. Dent and wife, against Isaiah Mayo and wife, for $(o,ODO damages. It is alleged that Mrs. Mayo uttered slanderous remarks against Mrs. Dent reflecting on her good character. Geikio Carxolxo was given a hearing yesterday before United States Commis sioner McCandless on n charge of counter feiting.
