The dally production atWiidwoodisstill
holding up to nearly 8,000 barrelB, and the
operations in the southwestern end of the
pool are active. In the northeast a number
of wells are going down, and it is probable
that more than half of those which are now
drilling in all parts of the Held will be in the
pay next week.
Tho Tleld in Detail.
Wildwocd The well of S. P. Boyer & Co.,
on the Jcnnyfaim in tho cxtrcmo south
west, made a 15-barrel flow yesterday morn
ins, merely cleaning itself out, and is now
standimr full of oil. Yesterday afternoon
the bit was 13 feet in the sand. There is no
,cas, and unless xmethins is reached much
better tlia.ii it .vas so far struck, the well will
be small. The Roth Oil Conipanv's well on
the W. W. Mclntvre, three quarters of a
mile southwest of tho Jenny, has
stopped flowing and ii being rigged up for
n pumper. The lolo has been tubed.
The Harlett No. 10, F?-st & Greenlee,
was shot yesterday a.ternoon, and during
the first hour afterwarl put 20 barrels of oil
In the tank. It had previously been show
ing for n good well Tlicy had located a rig
for No. 2 on the same farm 200 feet south, but
this was abandoned yesterday and the well
will probablv be drilled farther east.
Torst x Greenlee's No. 2, on the Alston, Is 20
feet in the sand and putting out from 12 to 15
barrels an hour. It is being drilled deeper.
Their Nos. 6 and 7,on the Alston, are through
tho Hundred Foot and have Just been cased.
Their Alston No. S has Just reached the
Hundred Foot. They are still flshlng
at the Alston No. 3, and nlthougli
the well is in tho sand and flowing a few
barrels a da v, it may have to be plugged.
The Both Oil Companv's No. 4 on the Peo

Downev have had to pull the casing at their
Rend No. 4. They are at tho bottom
of tho Hundred Foot. The Roth Oil
Companv's w-sll on the J. Mcln
tvre farm, half a mile south of the
,Jcnnv well, is in tho Hundred Foot, and
cased, but is shut down temporarily while
waiting for a cable. Tim Lydecker well, a
third of a mile southwest of the Jenny, is
down 600 feet. Tho Roth Oil Company's
Campbell No 2, north of the Jenny, is good
for ten barrels a day. Their Campbell No. 3
is through the third sand and drilling a
15-foot pocket It has made about 43 barrel
since It was brought in a week ago, an 1
made its last flow Monday It is standing
full of oil. McGinniss& Co.'sNo 2, on the
August Kvle, is downXCOO feet. It is only
about 100 feet north of Forst & Greenleo s
Hazlett No. 1. The Metropolitan Oil
Company's No. 2, on tho Kyle
is in the"Blne Monday," and is expected to
get the pay Snndav night It Is a western
edge well and is 400 feet west of their No. 1
which pumps from 10 to 15 barrels a dav.
The Smith Farm Oil Company's No. 11, In tbo
cxtremo northwest, is 23 feet in the sand and
shoning very little oil. It has a strong
pressure of gas.
The same company's No. 10, on the Smith
farm, was shot yesterdav and wns making 15
barrels an hour last night Calhoun & Pat
tenon's No. 1, on the Semple, was shot yes
terday aiternoon ana is ocing cleaned out
Guffv Jfc Queen's No. 2, on the Kretzer, is due
to get the pay to-day It is Just north of the
Marks farm, bn which Evans & Mandeville
expect to bring in their No. 3 well early next
neek. Tho Metropolitan Oil Company has
shot its No. 2, on the Kolbar farm, and yes
terday morning It was putting out 30 barrels
an hour.

McCtkdt The feature of the day in this
field was the well of the Orion Oil Company,
on the Bell farm, which came in late yester
day afternoon, and in an hour and 15 min
utes filled a 250-barrol tank. This well i3 on
a northeast line between the Mink well
and the field proper, and will
open up a big tract of territory
which has been looked upon as rather doubt-
im. inetifDer. loung k niison wen, on
the McClusVey farm, on the western edge of
the belt, is dry in the Gordon, and will be
drilled to the fifth sand. Black & Co have
a rig up on the Aiken farm, south of the An
dre vs. Tho well on the Andrews farm is in
tEe SO-foot.

Westvizw The Westview Oil Company's
No. 7, on the Ivory, is in the sand and filled
up 400 feet with olL It is showing light.
Their No. S ou the Ivory is due in a few days.

next week.
A Surprise at Mars.
Mars Statios Bolard & Cummings are
eight feet in tho Brush creek or Sneo sand
In their well on the John Kennedy farm, and
it Is making 110 barrels a day.
A Dry Hole at Moon.
Mooir The well of Forst & Co. in the
northeast; on Hamburger farm, Is through
all the sands and dry. It was nearly a mile
from the other de elopments. The Hervey
Oil Company is ten feet in the sand on the
Goss farm with no showing. It is not as
deepjhowoTer, as the pay in the wells near

present Bradley & Murphy should get the

Yesterday's Local Features.
There was no oil market yesterday, as
usual. The only quotation was a bid of 68.
Refined was marked down at Antwerp to
15, but was unchanged at other points.

.Tho Counterfeiter Turns Preacher and the
Minister Becomes His Pal.
Chicago, May 23. Captain Porter, of the
United States Secret Service, lias returned
from Southern Illinois, where within the
past week he has put behind the bars the
preacher counterfeiters, George Viuicil and
Jeremiah Holmes. He tolls a queer story of
mutual conversion, In thich a counterfeiter
became a preacher and a preacher a counter
feiter. "Jerry" Holmes was a counterfeiter
nnd a general outcast in Duquoin, 111. Rev.
George Tancilwas a Baptist Minister. He
undertook to convert Holmes to Christian
ity after everybody had given him up as in
corrigible. The mon met one night nnder
the stars, nnd Vancil preached a sermon to
Holmes to such good clToct that he professed
repentance. He fell ou the ground, and with
his hands toward heaven declared he would
forever renounce his wa s.
Holmes turned preachei, and bflrame the
pastor of a Cum pbellite congregation in tho
ciountry near Duquoin. It was not long after
this that Holmes gave Vancil some coimter
teit money, and Vancil passed it Later on
Holmes gave him some more, and lie passed
that upon sonio members of a traveling cir
cus. This Rev. Mr. Vancil confessed, but ho
declared that he took the money and con
tinued the acquaintance of Holmes for the
Xiarpose oficarning his secrets nnd exposing
the gang ot -n hicll Holmes was tho leader.
Rev. Jerry Holmes, ho made tho coin, and
who was captured a wck ago, held religious
services in jaillast Sunday, and had all his
fellow prisoners shouting for glory. He
preached a regular flre-and-brimstone ser

The Venn vlvanla Company Sued for 830,000
by Robert L. Dulaney and "Wife.
Robert L. Dulaney nnd wife, of Minnesota,
yesterday entered suit In the United States
Circuit Court against the Pennsylvania Ball
road Company to recover $23,000 damages
each. The damages claimed are for injuries
received in the wreck on the Pennsylvania
Railroad at New Florence, on November 14,
KM.
Mr. and Mrs. Dulaney -were on their bridal
tour at the timo of the accident, having been
married but a couple of days before. They
were both seriously injured and remained in
the hospital in Pittsburg for several months.

The suitor John Maginn against the Dol
lar Savings Bank, garnishee of James Mc

bank over which there is a dispute, is on trial

Reoisteii Conker yesterday received a let
ter from Mary E. Mason, of Marietta, O.,
asking for Information regarding families
named Seelcy and Holcraft Margaret
Seeley and Thomas nalrooft were married
here and went to Ohio. There are no records
in the Register's.
Feajtk Spisak; yesterday entered suit
against the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad
Company for $3,000 damages for the loss of
an arm. He stated that on March 21, 1890,
while he was coupling cars at the Linden
Steel Works, a cut of cars were pushed
against the ones he was coupling and his
arm was crushed bet een thejbumpcrs.

ing. Liabilities, $80,000; assets about the

Tho paymaster, the master mechanic and
three otner officials of tho Midland Railroad
have been driven from Waveland, Ind., by
strikers.
The Sheriff" of Walla Walla, fearing an
other outbreak of soldiers, has telegraphed
to the Governor for arms and ammunition.
His request was granted.
Tho Minnesota World's Fair Commission
has constituted a commission to prepare for
the Exposition, and the Legislature will be
asked to appropriate $50,000.
A mob in Butte City, Mont, attempted to
lynch Manager Woolston, of the Electric
Street Railway, on his way to jail. Woolston
is accused or throwing an employe down a
flight of stairs.
Josenh Newton, a counterfeiter living in
the northern part of Johnson county. 111.,
was captured last night near Lick creek in
Union county, whereupon he drew a revol
ver and killed himself.
The negro named Patterson who shot
two negroes, held up two white men and
then shot Fred Carpenter Sunday, was yes
terdav morning lodged in the jail at Knox
ville, enn. It was on the cards Wednesday
night to lynch him, but Major D.A.Carpen
tci, father of the wounded man, heard of it
and prevented it
Senor Moises Rojas, a member of the
Mexican Congress, and a former Judge of
tho Mexican Supreme Court, was accused of
theft, robbery, fraud and other crimes, but
claimed immunity because he was an M. C.
The Congress, however, has decided to do
privehimof his official privileges and he
must stand trial before the courts.
